    Why is it so difficult to find a restaurant in Albuquerque that does not overcook seafood? Here the prosciutto wrapped lobster was burnt black and had to be returned. The duck breast was also overcooked, not medium rare as requested but still very good. Having the grill visible to patrons is a nice touch but not when the exhaust system cannot keep the smoke from covering the dining area. Bless our server who did all she could to alleviate our distress and make the evening enjoyable after all.

    Good points: The staff was friendly and helpful. Except for noise Ambience was nice. Bad points: Exceedingly noisy. Food for the most part was poor. The mussels had an overwhelming sauce that completely eradicated any mussel flavor. The fritto misto appeared to be much more breading than seafood. And the veal was so tough it was impossible to eat. It could not even be cut with a sharp knife. (They did not charge us for the veal, apparently agreeing with us.) Only the salad could be rated good. In a nutshell, we liked the staff but hated the food and found the noise level very bothersome. We were looking forward to the reopened Scalos, but were exceedingly disappointed. We will not go back.

    The Black Manhattan was a decent cocktail. The whole grain rolls could have easily come from Costco. The Mafaldine and Meatball was passable but the Pennoni was a flavorless bowl of gummy overcooked pasta. Also poor ventilation in the open kitchen filled the restaurant with smoke. Overall a disappointing experience and certainly overpriced for the quality.

    Service was excellent, food was average. Steak was good, pork belly was disappointing. Noise level was fairly high on bottom floor, average on 2nd floor.

    It takes forever to get your food. After going there 3 times with the same long wait, we will give this restaurant a wait for a year before returning.

    My wife and I went to celebrate 20 years since we got engaged here. Our waitress, Trinity, was a delight. My wife had the chicken Marsala which was very tender and tasty. I had the branzino which was delicate and paired wonderfully with the mushroom risotto. The dessert, tarte tatin, was the perfect cap for the meal. The entire staff was friendly and made this a special evening.

    Food was great. Service was spotty. Though out waitress did give us a discount because of it. We had gnocchi, branzino, spaghetti and pizza. All was delicious. Oh and the dessert was so good. It was some type of apple turnover. Whatever it was, it was delicious. I would recommend this restaurant.
