Our Story The goal – to guarantee a wonderful meal with authentic cuisine and fabulous margaritas, serve over 50 artisanal and ancestral mezcals, and over 100 different types of tequila brands in a vibrant unique atmosphere that boasts excellent service. Ruta Oaxaca Mexican Cuisine opened in Astoria in 2021 with such a wonderful and successful home run that a second location opened in Patchogue in March 2022. Ruta Oaxaca means “Road to Oaxaca,” a historic state in the southern part of Mexico. Mr. Castillo and his Partners are keenly focused on honoring Oaxacan culinary traditions, whose fame is derived in great part from its many varieties of moles. By legend, these ancient recipes are more than sauces, they are the very focus of the meal. Ruta Oaxaca proudly features four moles, each prepared using the Oaxacan mole recipes that have made the cuisine world famous. The food was amazing so I really really recommend coming here if you want a great meal. The live music was fun, but it really made it hard to have a conversation..

This restaurant is Amazing. I came here to celebrate my son's birthday and there were 9 of us. We got there early and were still seated right away as our tables were ready. This which was great as we didn't have to wait. The staff here are incredible, especially our waitress. The food was great and everyone loved it. The drinks were really good as well. I highly recommend it for small or large groups. I will definitely be coming back!!!

Server put me at a table that was wet, it took for ever to get a glass of water and for the waiter to come over to our table. Took a while to come out as well. Chicken tacos were dry. The drinks were good though.
