Specialising in the long-standing tradition of Japanese charcoal cooking.

Head Chef Charles Lee has worked in a number of Michelin starred restaurants during his career before arriving at ROBATA. Possessing a strong command of Asian cuisines from across the globe, Chef Lee has devised a menu which shows the diversity of the country’s food, highlighting traditional cooking techniques and contemporary flavours, along with using the best of British produce.

ROBATA meaning ‘fireside’ specialises in robata grilled charcoal cooking, a Japanese tradition that was first introduced by ancient fishermen who took boxes of hot coals with them on their boats to warm their food at they gathered their day’s catch. While the cooking method has largely stayed the same, the menu is a modern interpretation of some of Japan’s most prized dishes as well as a number of ROBATA signatures sure to please Western pal

                                                                            Excelente la comida. No tomaron bien la orden y faltó un platillo que nos dieron mss tarde libre de cargo. No había postres. INCREIBLE NO? Y como le dan varias vueltas a una mesa... les urge que comas rápido y te vayas.

                                                                            El ambiente en general estuvo bien, había bastante gente y todo el mundo hablaba, parecía un ambiente mas informal y juvenil. Respecto a la comida, estaba muy buena, aunque pensé que habría mayor variedad de sushi. Los camareros muy simpáticos, en nuestro caso nos toco con un Canario y todo genial. Los precios son altos, el gasto media por persona en nuestro caso fue de 40 libras, aunque es cierto que cogimos bastante platos.

                                                                            Some of the best sushi I have ever had outside of Japan. I booked it for my sisters birthday and they gave her mochi ice cream as a birthday cake. Great service and loved watching the chef make the skewers. Loved it, definitely going back 💕

                                                                            Food was lovely and the price was fair for the more decadent ingredients like the black cod! It was a busy night and when the restaurant is full it's on the noisier side, but otherwise it was a great experience, would return.

                                                                            Needs a freshen up - it feels tired in comparison to the competition in the area at the same price point. and lacking some ambience. Food was delicious. We ordered the tasting menu. Really loved the cod and the chicken. Really nice cocktails too. Do check the opening / closing times, as we were only told they were closing for a break at 3pm after our first course - we had booked in for 2pm. But they stretched to 3:30 for us which we appreciated. Waitresses were friendly and attentive.
