Anniversary Meal. It was our first time visiting. We wanted to patronize this establishment if only to support the local staff who, instead of being out of work for the winter, decided to open this popup high-end restaurant during the normal closure of this facility.
The Quarter Circle is a great environment, and they've made it into a class act. From the receptionist, coat check, greeting, and professional and friendly staff. They didn't just look the part they made this a great evening. My water glass never got below half. The wait staff even made the effort to keep their right hand behind their back when not being used. They all did it. Very well planned and managed effort.
This is a very limited-menu restaurant, but the options were nice. We did a complete meal with appetizer, salad, and entree, and dessert with coffee. The appetizers were good, but I would not bother with the potatoes. They were just potatoes and the sauce was unremarkable. The smoked trout salad was the highlight of the evening...refreshing and the trout was awesome. The chicken was a bit on the smaller side but tasty. It has the same potatoes we had as an appetizer, which was too bad. A couple of pieces of asparagus would have helped the presentation of this dish. The Halibut again was good, and the greens with the couscous were good. However, the Halibut portions were two small palm-sized portions stacked. While that was plenty to eat, the presentation of a single thicker piece was mental what we expected. While I am a salt eater my wife is not. I was not compelled to ask for salt and my wife was off put by the amount of salt on both entrees. The cheesecake dessert while good was much smaller than expected.
Bottom line…this was a positive experience, the food was good except for salt, the prices are on the higher side, which was expected. The ambience and service were the highlights with the meal being good but less than expected or desired.
