Purlieu is a French restaurant in the Oakridge community of Calgary, Alberta. The food is classic with dishes like Moules Frites, Coquille Saint Jacques & Steak au Poivre. The wines are French with a good selection from the Rhone Valley, Bordeaux and Champagne with a cocktail list focused on French and local spirits. Our classic Bouillabaisse a l'Americaine is full of shellfish, prawns, scallops, artichokes and baby potatoes. It's all simmered in a saffron and pastis tomato broth...rouille buttered baguette on the side! 25$ all night long...you can't make it for less at home:)

We love the small vibe of this restaurant, you feel like you are in someone's home. The service was great and the wine we choose was a win. There was 4 of us and we ordered 2 starters and 4 mains. The starters were calamari and beef Tartare bo, the both were good, matter of fact the calamari was exceptional. The steak and frites was pretty good, a very simple presentation. The boulliabaisse was fantastic, I would go back just for that. One person ordered a pasta dish and they enjoyed their dish. The weakest dish was the veal cutlet, it was honestly a dissapointment. The veal seemed almost chopped and formed and deep fried. So all in all I wouod go back but skip the veal.

Booked a reservation to take my girlfriend out for valentine’s day and found that purlieu was the perfect place to have a romantic dinner and celebrate the day of love!!

What a quaint bistro. Love that is is small and cozy. The food was fantastic as was the service. Make a reservation as it only seats about 30 people.

Very good French restaurant with a limited number of dishes that they execute with perfection. The waiters were top notch! Highly recommend!
