This versatile space features a mix of seating and standing areas, perfect for socializing. Enjoy a ledge for your drinks and small plates, along with three high-top tables and twelve bar chairs. You can easily configure the tables and chairs to suit your gathering—set them up as one long table or arrange them as three separate tables for mingling. For parties over 14 please email events@BarPrequel.com. To reserve this area, a minimum booking of three hours is required, along with a 20% gratuity. All food and beverages will be consolidated into a single bill for easy payment.

Four of us came for a birthday, and immediately when entering the place we knew we were in for a unique experience. I won’t post any spoilers and just say that they commit to ensuring that the service and atmosphere stand out. We all ordered two drinks each and appetizers. Each drink was delicious, detailed, and had its own special presentation. The food was also great, we were pleasantly surprised with the portions — frites, fried chicken and Brussel sprouts were split between all. Not filling but reasonable. Each staff member serving our table insured to wish the person in our party a happy birthday, which was very kind. A Birthday dessert was also included and was delicious — crème brûlée! The only small critique any of us had with our evening was one person in our party ordered a beer first and when the server came by with the drinks rather than either having it poured for them or pouring it in front of them, handed them the glass and the bottle to pour themselves. We are not fine diners, and this isn’t a level of service we would expect at an average restaurant. However, for how detail oriented, experiential and the cost — this should be done. Let’s not have any guests feeling slighted for wanting to see how their friends’ drinks turn out the first round before trying out a cocktail or spirit. It would definitely NOT prevent us from coming back again! We absolutely loved our experience and only mention this knowing it’s a very small minor detail but this place is all about the details in every regard. Highly recommend and hope to see a seasonal cocktail in future visits!

This was such a unique and fun experience. All the staff were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. The drinks were delicious and I really enjoyed the passionate creativity behind them. I can’t wait to go back.

At long last, I finally visited PREQUEL & CO APOTHECARY for the first time — and as part of my birthday celebrations, no less! We stopped by after dinner to enjoy a couple of cocktails, all of which were truly unique to us. Round one: Belle Hélène ($24) for me, Notes of the Alchemist ($22) for hubby. Round two: La Muse ($20) for me, Montecristo ($20) for hubby. The care and creativity that went into these cocktails warrants the prices, which are honestly pretty typical in the city (even if the offerings are much less interesting, it seems!) We were curious about the absynthe, knowing they serve it in the traditional style (which we have yet to experience) but decided to save it for a future visit. That said, we saw them serve it to two folks at the bar and it looked like a really neat experience. The traditional ice water dispenser they use is like nothing I've ever seen. On the night we visited, the weather outside was truly frightful (the snow was coming down HARD) but the reception inside was the complete opposite: warm and welcoming from the moment we set foot inside the apothecary, to the moment we slipped out the back door and into an alleyway with some of the most stunning and skillfully executed (and yet somehow totally underrated) graffiti art in the city. The staff are so friendly and deeply knowledgeable about the unique mixology offerings, ready with a recommendation and eager to explain the flavour profiles of the spirits, herbs and techniques used to craft each drink. We didn't order any food but I was treated to the most darling and delicious ramekin of crème brulée — one of the best I've ever enjoyed, hubby agrees wholeheartedly — complete with a candle to blow out to mark my latest revolution around the sun. I couldn't resist bringing the little wax-sealed envelope in which they delivered our bill home with me as a souvenir of our visit to this gem of an establishment. We'll be back!

We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday, and we had such a wonderful time! The food was absolutely delicious, and the drinks were amazing. The staff went above and beyond—they even surprised us with a little dessert for my husband’s birthday, which was such a thoughtful gesture. The entrance to Prequel is amazing. It’s like stepping back in time. The bar and seating area are more modern with dark walls and comfortable seating. We ordered 4 cocktails but we didn’t like any of them! The table beside us also didn’t like their drinks. The drinks had perfume or bubble bath flavors that made them literally hard to swallow.

The food is excellent but takes a while, even when the restaurant is slow. There was a subtle, pleasant fragrance to the place before it was crowded. Go before 8 if you prefer a quiet environment. It would be nice if they discouraged flash photography and had a minimal dress code to preserve the excellent ambience. There is a wonderful mix of seating options that is inclusive and disability friendly. The service was relaxed and warm, just a bit slow, but that may have been understaffing issues. We had reservations, but it took a while just to get in. The prices were a bit high, but the quality is high. Flavors, temperatures and textures were excellent. The only issue we had was that the bread under the steak tartar was overly firm, but that may have been because we had to wait a long while for silverware. I highly recommend it. The experience made our night.
