Opened in May of 2001. It was one of the first restaurants to offer authentic Italian cuisine in Downtown Dallas. The street-side windows allow for you to view the venerable Neiman Marcus, as well as the passing traffic of vehicles and people on foot.
Porta Di Roma has menus featuring award-winning pizzas and a wide variety of pasta dishes, many of which are graced with chicken breast, fresh veal, and an assortment of seafood. We looked for something Italian and around the corner from our hotel downtown. The lemon drop was delicious, that veal di Marsala was DE-VINE. I just had the same in Tyler Texas and this was incredibly tender and the risotto underneath was perfect! The stuffed mushroom caps and the bruschetta was plentiful, perfectly seasoned and a large portion! Oh, the filet had incredible marbling inside and was perfectly cooked.

The food was okay. It was not the best Italian food, but definitely not the worst. The service was great & we enjoyed the downtown area.

My friends joined my wife and I for a show at the Majestic in Downtown Dallas. We decided on Italian for the dinner and I found Porta Di Roma within walking distance from the theater. Outside of our waitress appearing nervous, (yet she did a great job) Porta Di Roma is a very nice casual restaurant...great location, great ambiance, great food, and was an enjoyable experience before our show. It will be a restaurant that we will consider visiting again when we are in the Downtown Dallas area, so highly recommended!

My date and I ordered the chicken Marsala and the beal Marsala. The risotto was good and my chicken was cooked well, however, the sauce was a little salty. We didn’t love the bread/rolls. I thought they needed a little more flavor. The server was very nice and attentive. She recommended some wine that was really good. We ordered the strawberry cheesecake and espresso martinis (with Baileys instead of Kahlua) after dinner. Both were great. My only complaint was the slice of cheesecake was really thin. Overall, it was a great experience and I would go back.

Poor service and it wasn’t even busy.. the manager was so busy smoking out side they went to get him because we wanted to complaint about seating for 20 minutes without even being acknowledged. He basically told us it is what it is… I will recommend going to the taco place few steps away. They were nice!
