   We had a very positive brunch experience! The service was outstanding—our server was incredibly attentive and went out of her way to suggest non-alcoholic drink options for my partner, who was having trouble deciding. Our favorite bite of the morning was the lobster roll! We also tried the shrimp and grits, lox, and chilaquiles with short rib. As some reviews mentioned, the short rib was slightly dry, but overall, everything was flavorful and well-prepared. We would definitely return, and the lobster roll will be a must-order again!

   Parking is a problem here. My guest was not allowed to park her vehicle in the valet parking because they said it was too big of an SUV. It’s a large SUV but it’s not crazy big by any means also there’s no parking on the street or anywhere around this restaurant. The food is good, but seven dollar iced teas is crazy. Two people having breakfast having just iced tea and two regular breakfast meals (eggs, meat, biscuits and a salad) was over $80 with tip.

   Very large portions were way too much for 2 people, so make sure you ask the server about sizes and/or bring a group to share appetizers and sides. Waitress was very pleasant, but not informative about portion sizes so beware. Food was excellent, however and would highly recommend for same especially the sourdough and the pork belly, plus the Yellowtail and lobster risotto. Moderately noisy, but tolerable!

   Lovely brunch at Poppy & Seed. Server was lovely. Ambiance was lovely. Food overall was excellent. The Hash Loaf was disappointing - grey inside - not good. But otherwise great and we'd definitely return.

   I LOVE Poppy & Seed. The staff are friendly & helpful; the ambiance is pretty and garden-like; and the food is really elevated. Poppy & Seed has personality, a soul. So many OC restaurants have good, solid food, but like OC itself, they feel a bit soul-less; they feel manufactured. And that is how Poppy & Seed standouts from the typical upscale, nice OC restaurant; Poppy & Seed has a story to tell thru their food...and it's somewhere between stunning and mesmerising.

    For the first time since we have been going to this restaurant, we found the food to be highly uneven when it came to the tasting menu. The opening courses were home runs. By the time the smoked duck came around, I found that this dish was very out of balance with teeth melting spices in the greens overwhelming the subtlety of the duck. Unfortunately given the substantial price of the menu in comparison to other nearby Friday night hangouts, it just did not live up to the bill. Maybe next time.
