Pony’s executive chef and team are the masters of the wood fire grill, producing contemporary and modern Australian dishes of the season’s freshest produce since its opening in 2006.

In an open kitchen where Exec Chef Neil Nolan enjoys a chat with our guests, the Argentinian grill fuelled by iron bark takes dominance with the menu created around this masterpiece.

Pony is located in Sydney’s oldest cobblestone laneway within the historic and bustling dining precinct of The Rocks offering inside and outside seating. Our carefully crafted boutique selection of wines and delicious cocktail list complements our a la carte and group menus.

We had a great table for 2 at the front edge, with a clear view of the opera house and the people strolling the waterfront. The linguine with seafood was delicious, as was the burrata and the Italian beer. Tiramasu was tasty, but we wished we had shared because the portion was huge! On Christmas Eve, it was very busy, so service was a bit off, but all the servers were so pleasant that I can’t fault them.

Amazing experience at Pony! From entrée to dessert an incredible discovery for the taste buds. I definitely recommend the duck and the lamb, delicious.

This place definitely has a lot of energy if you’re looking for a more intimate setting probably not for you but the food was yummy. The service felt a little rushed, but still had a great time.

Pony actually exceeded our expectations. Staff were lovely and despite being run off their feet we were welcomed even able to share a quick laugh. Service was also good. We opted for the entree special of crocodile kebab which sadly didn’t hit the spot. It was quite tough and since we recently enjoyed crocodile in Darwin several times this dish was a let down but Kudos to the chef for having it on the menu at all. On the other hand the eye fillet was cooked perfectly and paired with mint and a side of crispy broccolini. We choose the caramel tart as recommended by our waiter as a lite bite for dessert also delicious. Really pleased we stumbled upon Pony and would happily go back.

We had a group of 8 so got a big long table outside which was perfect. Our waiter was very attentive and really friendly, so helped in our enjoyment. The set menu was great, the starters had a great variety so everyone could enjoy their faves, the tuna tartare was my pick. The mains were lovely, the market fish was a winner along with the steak and they had some yum chips and salad to share. Would come back agin.

Lovely dinner yesterday - oysters, the special lamb sausage with harissa, and scoth fillet with emoji mushrooms. Everything was delicious, and our waitress very attentive.
