Originally known as Phoebe's Garden Café, the restaurant has a long and colorful history in Syracuse. Local lore claims that the building was originally a brothel, and Phoebe was its madam.
In the summer of 2004, Phoebe's experienced a refreshing makeover with a bright new look in the atrium dining room with fresh paint, new upholstery, and artwork. The coffee lounge also opened that year, and it became an instant hit with the surrounding university and business crowd. Those changes also warranted a new name to reflect the updated attitude and ambiance: Phoebe's Restaurant and Coffee Lounge. Classic elements of Phoebe's remain untouched—the French onion soup and enticing crème brulee, for example, but other menu items change seasonally.
The Lounge also has its own seating area and free wireless internet capabilities. Phoebe's old world charm is right at home in a revitalized area of the city.

We had a plus 1 for our party of 4 reservation--the staff totally rolled with it. Our server Jessie kept our water filled and was the perfect level of attentive and discreet. Food was perfect, drinks were lovely, and the overall vibe was lovely.

This is A fine place to eat and drink probably the best place in town. Especially when attending the Dome or Syracuse stage it’s very convenient.

Phoebe’s has remained consistent with good food and service after all of these years with a nice atmosphere and bar. Very convenient location near the campus.

I ordered the special - perch over beet risotto and sautéed spinach. Food wasn’t hot. Told waitress she offered to reheat I boxed it up took it home

As always, Phoebe's knocked it out of the park. The duck wontons were crispy little packages of richness, just the right size. The seared scallops were perfectly prepared and seasoned, the root vegetable "hash" and whipped sweet potatoes were a great combination of flavors and textures. Everything was hot, tasty, served promptly, and exactly as ordered. Our waiter was personable, knowledgeable about the menu, and attentive without being intrusive. Wine prices are a little high, but that's typical of any restaurant these days (alas!). Five stars :)

Loved the change in menu to reflect the Fall season. Drinks were delicious and our server was friendly and very attentive!

This was our first time back in about 20 years and it did not disappoint. The food, the atmosphere, the service...all fantastic!
