Philhellene is one of the four Greek restaurants in Melbourne to be included in the 2011 Age Good Food Guide, our primary objective at Philhellene is to present an authentic concept of food and drink while using high quality produce and applying traditional methods derived from our own mothers' cooking, creating a truly memorable and even emotional experience.
The team at Philhellene consists of John & Susie Rerakis, several time 'best greek restaurant' winners by The Age Good Food Guide, also featured in Vogue Entertaining and other prominent media. Along with them their entourage of mothers who are working in the kitchen, spreading love & tales of their country in the dishes that they serve you.
Our primary objective is to present an authentic concept of food and drink while using high quality produce and applying traditional methods derived from our own mothers’ cooking, creating a wonderful experience.

For authentic Greek flavours, you won’t be disappointed. Service is outstanding and the ambience and music take you to Greece. Highly recommend 💖

We started off in a noisy area, and the staff noticed we were struggling and let us shift to a more open, quiter area. The food was amazing, but especially, the service was very attentive. It was obvious to us the staff were involved, committed and thoughtful. Prices weren't overly expensive, quite reasonable. We enjoyed the Greek music, and once again the staff were helpful in letting us shift after had eaten, to a table where we could sit and watch the musicians. This is definitely, absolutely one of the Premier restaurants in Moonee Ponds. We had a lovely night, thank you.

Very noisy. Food was lacking flavour and over priced. Service however was fantastic!!

Good food cooked in a traditional style. Plentiful plates and always attentitive service. My wife had mousakka with beef accompanied with a salad, there was also a vegetarian version. I had the goat special; was tender and came accompanied with beans and baked potatoes. Cannot forget th entre,first time Kalitsounia, lovely , then calamari and a lovely smoked eggplant

Philhellene offers an authentic Greek dining experience with exceptional food and warm hospitality. The slow-cooked lamb and grilled octopus are standout dishes, bursting with Mediterranean flavors. The cozy, elegant ambiance and well-curated wine list enhance the experience. With attentive service and thoughtfully prepared dishes, Philhellene is a must-visit. Five stars!

My husband and I had a set menu and it did not disappoint! Lots of different starters to taste a few dishes, and the mains were very generous. The dishes were prepared the traditional way and tasted amazing. To end the night, we had Greek coffee, baklava and loukoumades - perfect! Highly recommend for anyone who likes their Greek food traditional.
