At Old Wharf, we stand in the historical location of former jetties, piers, homes and taverns from where, since the 1800s colourful traders, merchandisers, exporters and explorers have shipped Tassie’s renowned produce across the globe.

Chef Simon Pockran and his team acknowledge this history by creating a menu that celebrates and explores Tasmania’s traditional family dishes. Reimagined and refined, this menu gives the nod to our past while championing our celebrated produce and boutique Tasmania growers.

Our full breakfast package consists of one hot a la carte dish with up to three sides, access to our bountiful continental buffet selection, and a barista-made beverage. On the buffet, freshly-baked pastries, cured meats and soft cheeses, sliced fruit and yoghurt, cereals, bread and spreads unfurl before our open kitchen, to go with your chosen meal.

It’s our last night in Tasmania so we wanted to experience dinner with all (or mostly all) local fare. Our meal was delicious (the Bbq’d octopus was superb!). The wait staff were attentive - especially one who helped us with non dairy dishes (husband is lactose intolerant). Great job! Tables well laid out with walls/curtains creating separate spaces for dining.

Food was amazing. Great views and atmosphere. Table service could do with some training. Lovely and friendly but disorganised. We were left for a while to look at drinks menu, but not given food menu. Server came over to give us food menu but disappeared before we could place drinks order. We had to wait for them to come back and placed both food and drinks together. Only 1 of 3 drinks arrived, so after waiting a while we asked where they were and they then arrived with 2 very apologetic servers. When our meals were served, we had no cutlery. Couldn’t catch the eye of anyone so ended up going and getting them ourselves. There seemed to be lots of servers and restaurant was quiet so not sure how it would be on a busy night.

Great location with a nice view. Beef and lamb were very good and cooked perfectly. Sides are huge, definitely shareable for up to 4 people. We wish that the wait staff informed of us this as we should have ordered one potato and one salad as opposed to 2 potatoes. Dessert was awful, the miso carmel sauce rendered the Tasmania apple cake inedible!

A perfect place for our last night in Hobart. The service was just perfect, let me try all the red wines to decide on the best and was friendly and fun. The food was fabulous and filling and any food swaps were no trouble at all. The atmosphere was so nice and we felt spoilt.

Lovely night out. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food was delicious- every dish ordered was fantastic, uniquely delicious. Menu was a little hard to read with the low lighting and smaller font, but the level of lighting was pleasant. Would recommend and would love to return for other occasions

Friendly service from the very helpful waitress. Food was nice. Can I suggest wrapping chicken legs ends in aluminium foil for people who like to get the meat off the bone or some finger bowls. Ambience and location much appreciated. Would highly recommend the place.
