Welcome to Nouveau Restaurant & Cellar Door.

We are located at Balgownie Estate in Maiden Gully. Balgownie Estate is Bendigo’s oldest commercial Vineyard. We have been producing award winning wines from our first vintage back in 1972. Today you can visit our restaurant and cellar door and taste from our extensive selection of wines made from hand harvested fruit grown on their beautiful old vines that are now over 50 years old.

Whilst here, take the opportunity to, dine in our restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Our menus feature contemporary Seasonal Australian Cuisine, sourced from premium local suppliers. For Breakfast enjoy a romantic Champagne Breakfast (our version of it anyway…!)

                                                My friend and I enjoyed the beautiful day, view, delicious food and bubbles. We had excellent service with friendly knowledgeable staff. Being able to enjoy the experience in the peaceful ambience of the vineyard.

                                                On arrival waitresses we’re quiet rude and reminding us that we needed to leave at a certain time which we knew. Basic food platters were average yet quite expensive. We were contentious encourage to order due to a wedding scheduled at later time yet we open to ordering and staying within our booked time slot. Disappointing experience for a birthday outing with friends. Would not come back, disgusted in the experience.

We are disappointed that your experience did not live up to your expectations. The day in question was busy and as you mentioned we did have a wedding on and as such we needed to turn the restaurant. Unfortunately we did not close the booking s down as quickly as we should have and rather than cancel we tried to push through.

                                                I am sorry that our order hasn’t been put through to the kitchen and we waited 1 and 1/2 hours for our meal. Yes you apologised but there were people on another table that were complaining about their meal and were subsidised. This was our second time to Steak and Shiraz night and I don’t think we will be back.

                                                We were seated inside on a reasonably nice day where we would have loved to sit outside. This was not an option. First table they offered in the empty restaurant was right next to the door. Thankfully we were able to sit further in the restaurant. Service was lacking considering only 3 tables in the restaurant. Drinks came out all at different times and cocktails weren't particularly nice. Food was very small and overpriced and bland. Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't be going again.
