Monkey Cat está situado en el centro histórico de Auburn y es un establecimiento popular tanto para locales como para turistas que buscan una agradable experiencia culinaria. Monkey Cat fue elegido como el mejor restaurante en varias encuestas de lectores del Auburn Journal, ofreciendo un ambiente especial y un extensivo menú. Su propietario, Jim Bril, llegó en 2005 a Auburn desde San Francisco, donde fue el socio gerente del famoso Fior D 'Italia en North Beach, conocido como "el restaurante italiano más antiguo de los Estados Unidos". First time coming in, we found it extremely cold. Asked for a seat away from the draft of the door…it still didn’t make a difference. We ordered drinks and were told they were out of 2 of the 9 main entrees. Disappointed, we weren’t sure we would stay for dinner, but decided to order anyway. When we went to order our appetizers, we were told they were out of one of them. Server told us she came in and not a lot of food was prepped for dinner tonight which is why they were out a lot of items. With all the back and forth, we did enjoy our meals, but mind you, it was late and at this point hungry. We asked for a Togo box and when the server cleared our plates, she said she was coming back with more food. Confused, we said, what food? We didn’t order anything else. She came out with a dessert plate and offered us dessert. The way it was presented, we thought they were giving us the plate of dessert complimentary for all the inconveniences earlier on. She said which do you want and I’ll box them for you to take with you. As she walked away, I stated that was so nice of them. We got the bill and didn’t even have a chance to read it before she took the credit card and the bill to run it. When she came back with it, we saw the charge for the desserts. It was all very misleading. I think we were still processing what had happened and didn’t say anything before we left. But afterwards, we were both upset about the entire situation and lack of communication. It wasn’t about the final bill but it was about customer service and the lack of transparency and accountability. Having worked in the restaurant industry, that’s what brings customers back. Not the way they handled it. Sadly, I don’t see us ever coming back.

Everything was great. One thing was that when the receipt came it included a fee for use of credit card which had not been disclosed in advance. It would have been better had the restaurant disclosed upfront that they would charge a fee.

Monkey Cat is always perfection! The food is delicious, and the service is amazing. They always make you feel like part of the family here.

Went for a birthday dinner. Ordered an appetizer , 2 dinners and wine. Wine arrived and then we sat and waited...and waited. After about 30 minutes our server came by and said the appetizer would be right out. Two minute later she arrived with the entrees and said our original appetizer was given to another server by the kitchen, but they had just made another one (baked brie) and would we like it now. At this point, with two hot entrees on our table we said, No Thanks. She was very apologetic, but her kitchen staff let her down and she had to make the excuses for them. Not a very memorable meal.

Food was absolutely amazing, drinks were perfectly mixed, and the atmosphere and staff were just amazing. We will definitely be back.

We had a delicious meal at Monkey Cat last night. Great service, nice atmosphere and quiet enough that we could have a conversation with our friends. My short ribs were tender and juicy, and my friends salmon, mediterran pasta with shrimp and cordon blu were all excellently prepared. It was Wine Wednesday so we received a discount on our bottle of wine. Highly recommend Monkey Cat for great service and food.

Monkey Cat NEVER disappoints! Tonight we had the baked Brie to start and chose the Braised short rib for our entree. The food was amazing and the service was spot on. We enjoyed our dinner, and for a restaurant that is always busy, we never once felt rushed. This restaurant is such a wonderful gem in our community. We will definitely be back!
