Our décor is warm and modern. The tradition has always been dark wood, leathers and a muted palette for a steakhouse. We broke the mould and decided to add hand-selected music that reflects us! We’re more like Jay Z and less like Sinatra.

We only serve ranch specific Alberta Beef. That means we don’t serve beef from anywhere else on the planet. We know our farmers and ranchers personally and respect the hard work they put in to produce our beef.

We are one of just a handful of steakhouses in Canada that serves, Grass-fed, Grain-fed, Wet-aged, Dry-aged and Wagyu beef 365 days a year. Our beef is always fresh never frozen.

We use a 1800 degree Infrared Grill to cook your steaks. The high heat creates a flavourful crust on the outside of the steak and leaves a juicy centre.

    First time there but we will be back. Normally we reserve our steak meals for the Keg but this steak was just as delicious!

    We went for an early Sunday dinner and had an awesome steak for two with risotto that was to die for. Great dinner and quick friendly service

    Food tasted great, but portions were small and my family of 1 adult and 3 youths did not feel like we got good value. The idea of “share steaks” was very appealing so that we could all try different steaks. We got the Benchmark Showcase (claims to feed 3-4), which came with “extra large” mashed potatoes (which was barely enough for 2), so we ordered another plate of mashed potatoes for $15, and another plate of vegetables for $15. Steaks were tasty and done properly, and we enjoyed the different salts provided. The overall experience was decent, but not outstanding or memorable enough that we’d come back, with so many other good options in town.

    I always love going to Modern to celebrate birthdays or my anniversary. The service is outstanding and the food is remarkable. I love that they have a south location, so the commute home after a luxurious evening is only a few minutes away.

    Have been to Modern Steak at Southport several Times. This was our best experience. Annie, our Server was excellent, personable without being Intrusive. Two of us had steaks; a ribeye and a strip Loin. Our partners had the cod and the chicken. All Meals were very good. 👍
