Inspired by the wood-fired Robata grills of Japan, Mizu offers a refreshed take on live-fire cooking atop the Hyatt Centric in the heart of Charlotte’s SouthPark neighborhood. Opened in August of 2021 and named one of 2022's "25 Best New Restaurants" and "50 Best Restaurants" by Charlotte Magazine, the rooftop restaurant by Indigo Road Hospitality Group (IRHG) combines the traditions of ancient Japanese cooking with Southern influences and Asian flavors. The kitchen, anchored by Mizu’s own Robata grill, features a seafood-focused menu composed of wood-fired, raw, and chilled offerings.

The beverage program focuses on bright, easy-drinking libations using Japanese spirits and seasonal ingredients, complementing the cuisine and atmosphere. With a chic, minimalist design with natural elements throughout, the restaurant, named for the Japanese word for water, offers sweeping rooftop views from the patio, as well as sophisticated interiors and comfortable lounge and bar seating.

We just love Mizu. From the amazing food, great service by Ivey, the views and the decadent desserts, this restaurant continues to win us over every time. We highly recommend it. You won’t be disappointed. A truly great place for a business dinner or date night on the weekends. A 10 out of 10.

My boyfriend and I visited Mizu for a second time for Valentine's; we went for a late dinner on Saturday night. As we were checking in, Emma, our server from the first time recognizes us and we requested to sit in her section. The food and atmosphere were perfect. Emma is the sweetest and super attentive. She truly added to our experience and we couldn't speak higher praises of her! The pre-fixed Valentine's menu wasn't well put together in my opinion. My partner eats a veg diet and the entrees weren't veg friendly. Emma saved the day with a special stir fry plate and he was more than pleased. My entree was the flounder and to my surprise, that was the only item on my plate. No sides or veggies. Very weird. The dessert was good (trio puff) but totally thrown off by the dark chocolate icing that was unnecessarily added to adhere the dessert to the plate. I'm not a chocolate lover, which is why I chose that dessert, so that ruined the flavor profile of the desserts. We enjoyed the evening and service. We'll be back again.
