Chef Dunlap was previously the Executive Sous Chef at The Inn at Little Washington and the Corporate Executive Chef of Quirk Hotels (Quirk Hotel RVA & Quirk Hotel CVille). He was named as 1 of the 32 Restaurant Stars on the Rise in 2020 by FSRMagazine, Rising Star Chef of the Year by Two Roads Hospitality Worldwide, and has won Best Dishes at Broad Appetit 4 years in a row.

Hidden gem: I was so happy to have found this enchanting local restaurant! The food is hands-down amazing: delicious and creative like you’d normally only find in a big city. Our waiter was charming, knowledgeable, AND so kind and patient (a couple of our party are very picky eaters), he really added positive points to the experience. There’s more seating than at first appears, so we were able to get in last minute on a Saturday evening. I LOVE that the menu changes often; more chances to try new flavors. We’ll definitely be back!

Man I wanted to like this meal. The menu looked great, the pictures looked wonderful, and it seemed very creative. Unfortunately, there was little flavor at all. We tried the filet, soup, and four different appetizers. The soup was actually fantastic. The rest was unfortunately very average especially for what is charged. I hate to write a negative review but it should have been much better.

This was one of our best dining experiences in recent memory. The charcuterie was delicious and the portions were generous. Our salmon and pork chop entrees were both fantastic, and the strawberry basil cake was a delightful surprise. Our server, Mark, was professional and engaging. We’ll be back!

Dinner at Chef’s Kitchen is always reliably fantastic. Their innovative menu encourages trying new things with confidence. The servers are quite enjoyable and service is great!! We highly reccommend Midlothian Chef’s Kitchen!

Our only complaint was that our pasta (that was served with the chicken) was very undercooked and inedible. Everything else about our meal was delicious, but despite letting our server know that the pasta was undercooked, and we only got an apology. I feel they should’ve have adjusted the bill a bit. The rest of our meal was fine.

We are lucky to have Midlothian Chef's Kitchen as one of Richmond's go-to restaurants. The food and service never disappoint and it's a great option to catch up with friends because they never hurry you and the noise level is low enough to enjoy good conversation.

We had a wonderful dining experience with exceptional food. Although I wished for more pork-free options, as many dishes included pork in some form, the petite filet I ordered was outstanding—truly one of the best I’ve ever had. The sauce, broccoli purée, and side vegetables were equally delicious, complementing the steak beautifully. I’ll certainly be returning.
