Del equipo editorial de OpenTable: El LA Times una vez llamó a Peter Merriman «la Alice Waters aloha» debido a su célebre reputación de promover los ingredientes locales. The potatoes in the lobster pot were undercooked. We waited a long time to get our main, the manager noticed and told the waiter to bring desserts for free, but we weren’t asked which ones we would prefer. At least the manager asked that we were given the two most expensive ones (still they might not have been to our taste), but the waiter decided to replace one with just a scoop of ice cream and when asked why those desserts specifically he was very dismissive and kind of rude. I would have expected much better service considering that prices are pretty high

Wonderful service! We were there on a Monday a little before 5pm for happy hour. The drinks and appetizers were delicious, and there was also beautiful live music. It was a great time.

It was a delightful late afternoon lunch spot. The tarot hummus plate is very refreshing. Also the servers provided great attention to our needs. An example of their attention to detail was when they provided two different types of sauces to complement my order of fish tacos. Which were amazing! We will be coming back. 😊

As you eat a meal at Merriman's, you can tell that each ingredient is selected with care. Sure enough, when I asked I found out the food is locally sourced from farms that the owners and Chef know and trust. Many items are hand selected by the box, not the truck load. Since the Chef from Maui transferred over to Merriman's Oʻahu, our entrees have been especially ono. At lunch today I planned to take home one of my two fish (ahi) tacos. No way! I couldn't stop finishing both. Last night my husband and I walked into Merriman's without reservations and sat at the bar. Who cares if we didn't get a table? The gregarious host, Cody Merriman, stopped by to share a laugh or two and answer our questions about the menu. My husband ordered their chicken entree for dinner and said it was the best chicken he'd ever had. And my taro falafel was also delicious. We can't resist their Waialua Chocolate Purse for dessert. I felt a little decadent afterward, but what the heck? There are lots of restaurants in our neighborhood, but for five years now we keep coming back to Merriman's which seems to be even better the last six months. Could it be the addition of the Maui Chef? We like the vibe. Energetic without being so loud you cannot carry on a conversation. We both think their Hawaiian music playlist is the best in the City. Wish I could think of something negative to say to make this review real. But having just come back from a great lunch with memories of a wonderful dinner there last night, I am only happy and satisfied.

Waiter was attentive. Bag o biscuits is always a must. Beet salad was nothing but perfection as well as the Cobb. Smash burger was also amazing but we were shorted in fries…let our server know and he easily took care of the situation. Always a great visit.

Our waiter was personable and helpful, food was delicious, however steak frites may have been a tad overcooked for medium rare. Other items…fish tacos, fish and shrimp and desserts were 5 stars! **One thing I recommend is changing out some of your black and white dining chairs. The woven seats as well as some areas where you rest your arms are coming apart and snagged my blouse. Hostess at the front was very personable and appreciated her taking our picture outdoors and holding the door open for our seniors. We love Merrimans, and will definitely be back again.
