Meatmaiden is an underground steakhouse and cocktail bar delivering a unique take on the classics.

Hidden in the basement of the historic Georges Building, we strive to find the finest grass-fed, grain-fed and Wagyu beef for our custom-built grill and wood-fired smoker and dry-age select cuts in our meat cabinet.

Premium steaks from incredible local producers with an ever-evolving lineup, seafood dishes such as our cult lobster mac cheese and modern, diverse menus stand alongside innovative house cocktails and a focused, energetic wine list.

An incredible dining experience, our server Matthew was incredible and the food was unmatched. The cocktails were also brilliant. Everything was full of flavour annd cooked to perfection, I am so excited for my next visit.

Lamb ribs and chips were amazing However mains were very disappointing steak was chewy and tough and chicken tasted like fish sauce was horrible, service was also very slow and long wait for food.

Very average for a highend steakhouse. We ordered the Wagyu beef, 350G for $100 and Prime Rib 300G for $65. The Wagyu was tough and we had to return to recook (How can a Wagyu be tought!!! that's an oxymoron!!!). And the prime Rib was nothing to write home about (We had a NY steak that was much better that this Prime). Was very underwhelmed. Our entire bill including starter dishes and drinks was $313. It was certinally was not a $300 dinner experiance.

Have been to Meat Maiden a number of times(visitors not from Melbourne) Food is absolutely delicious and well worth the trip. Great service too!

Maybe it was because I was almost the last booking or they were still busy, though there were only 2-3 tables, it was still hard to get any staff’s attention even though it was quiet. I wanted to order a few more but it was too hard to call the section waiter at my table so I just gave up the extra order. Besides that they came and checked our table, food is always good, good price, fast service, casual easy to dine

The restaurant was heavily recommended by a couple of people and it didn't disappoint. We were greeted by the staff as soon as we walked in and the service was prompt and friendly. The food was outstanding. The steaks were the best that we have had - cooked to perfection, and excellent quality cuts of meat. Absolutely delicious.

Restaurant had a nice vibe, definitely a perfect spot for date night. Service from Merve was fabulous, and served our table the entire night. She was polite, very attentive, didn’t leave us waiting in between courses too long, and ensured our water was always topped up! The bone marrow, charred greens and 400G wagyu scotch fillet were incredible and the highlight of our dishes.

If you want a review of the steaks at Meat Maiden, scroll on. I didn’t order steak…which is perhaps akin to going to Red Rooster and not ordering chicken. I went for the miso cauliflower, perhaps not the first choice of most diners. But I made our reservation because I knew my mega-carnivorous husband would love it. And he did. So yes, the food was excellent. Go for the food. But waaaaaaaay better than the food were the staff. Unlike the current trend for waitstaff to make it obvious they’d rather be anywhere than taking your food order, MM staff all genuinely looked like they wanted to be there. They were joyful, engaging and had each other’s backs. They worked together like a well oiled machine and it was fun and heart warming to watch. I’d go back for the chips. For the crème caramel, for the cauliflower and the donut. My husband would go back for the burnt ends and the pork belly and scallops. But most of all, we’d go back for Nathan and the rest of the staff.

My boyfriend and I come here every year for our anniversary, we love it so much. The food is always amazing. The people who work there are so lovely and welcoming. Genuinely the perfect experience.
