Meatmaiden is one hell of a steakhouse. Bringing you the best barbecue and grill in Melbourne, our large and energetic basement restaurant and bar and down-to-earth staff make us the perfect CBD venue for intimate dinners, work lunches, special occasions or functions.

We're part steakhouse, part smokehouse - with a unique and eclectic mix of premium steaks and smoked meats. We've been fine-tuning that approach for the last ten years to bring you the best meat around - dry-ageing select local cuts like O'Connor rib eye, tending the fire to smoke grass-fed short ribs over ironbark and pairing with signature dishes like our lobster mac cheese.

Our carefully-curated wine list focuses on some great Australian winemakers, with six taps of craft beer and quirky cocktails completing the line up.

Groups of 8+ people at dinner are required to dine from our $95 per person Maiden’s Mood chef’s choice menu, which is made up of seven sharing dishes and gives you a hit from the smoker and grill. The Maiden’s Mood requirement for 8+ people doesn’t apply at lunch – except from November 19 until the end of the year, when our Express Lunch menu takes a break. If you have kids under 12 years old in your group and the number of adults is less than eight people, then we’re happy for you to order from our Main Menu.

If you're even in Melbourne for a holiday or a local, you're life won't feel as fulfilling until you've experienced Meatmaiden, I can't make this up! The food was impeccable, the service was amazing, and the atmosphere is second to none. If I could afford it, I would go every night.

Booked on the recommendation of a friend and it didn't disappoint. Great venue and the food was exceptional. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the Tiger Prawns and Grilled Bread entrees were so good. Great wine selection and the cocktails were fresh and full of flavour. Good luck stopping at one! Matt was our waiter and he was briliant. Nothing was too much trouble and he ensured we had a great night. Highly recommend Meatmaiden and we will be back with friends in the future.

Loved meatmaiden when it first opened….food was delicate in flavour, well cooked and balanced and finely presented. We did not have the same opinion in 2024

As always the food was incredible and the scotch fillet on the special menu was crazy good, it just melted in your mouth. The staff were friendly and helpful and it was a great experience

We’ve always enjoyed Meatmaiden, but unfortunately, our experience tonight fell short of expectations. We had family visiting from overseas and wanted to share the incredible food we’ve loved here, but we ended up leaving disappointed. First, when our steaks arrived, 2 out of 5 were cooked incorrectly. My aunty, who ordered a medium-well steak, received a medium-rare one, and my steak was overcooked and dry. They took my aunty’s steak back to the kitchen to correct it, but I didn’t want to cause further delays by sending mine back. To make matters worse, the staff who brought our steaks to the table didn’t know which steak belonged to whom, so we had to cut them open to figure it out ourselves. We also ordered two sides of chips and two sides of charred veggies, but the sides were forgotten entirely. When the mistake was pointed out, we were told the chips would be complimentary. In the end, we received just one side of chips and one side of charred veggies for a table of five. Overall, the experience was disappointing, and it was especially unfortunate as we were hosting special guests. We hope this feedback helps improve things in the future.

Impeccable service, lively environment, and most importantly perfect steaks. My Wagyu Strip was cooked to the perfect medium rare and melted in my mouth. Honourable mention to the house-made bread with cowboy butter- it was fluffy and delicious. Wait staff were also very friendly and approachable, and the lively, upbeat atmosphere & music really added to the experience. Would definitely visit again!
