Meat & Potatoes is a high end gastropub in downtown Pittsburgh. Its kitchen takes as its inspiration the idea of elevating comfort food to a gourmet level. Its chefs are inspired by fresh, seasonal ingredients and its bar staff creates innovative cocktails and serves a range of wines by the glass and draught beers, as well. The menu at Meat & Potatoes is a new take on basic. There are classic appetizers like fried pickles, grilled bread and fried Brussels sprouts, as well as more innovative fare like fried pigs ear and buttermilk fried chicken liver. Meat & Potatoes mains include pot roast, salmon and lamb neck cassoulet.

Our service was great, but it was very busy and quite noisy. The potatoes soup was simply very loose mashed potatoes and served warm, not hot. The steak was good but not worth $65.00. the creamed spinach was very good. It appeared that they have worked harder at being unique rather than excellent.

Our server Richard was excellent and the food was outstanding as usual! We always look forward to coming back and we were not disappointed. Thank you for an outstanding experience!

The music was insanely loud. Thankfully, I take earplugs everywhere, but my mom doesn't and it was hard for us to have a conversation. The hostess was friendly, which was a pleasant surprise. Last time, all the hosts/hostesses were very rude. The food was great and service was really good until the end when we were trying to get our check even though he'd asked if we had something we needed to get to on time and we'd told him what it was. We made it on time, since we were close, but it was a bit annoying.

Great food and service last Saturday night, we got the sea bass special and the caesar salad. Both were excellent, the caesar was one of the best I've ever had.

Absolutely awesome experience here tonight! Riley went above and beyond to check on our table to make sure our food and cocktails were good. Mind you, he was working behind the bar. Josh was also working behind the bar and stopped by our table as well to check on us. It wasn’t exemplary service! The food was fantastic also. We’ll be back soon.

Great experience. Our server was great. The kitchen is very accommodating to food allergies. This is one of the best spots in Pittsburgh.

Love the restaurant overall, but they disappointed us on the value of their daily entrée special. A tiny piece of Lobster atop a bowl of "Lobster Risotto" [sic]. All tasty but for the price point, not acceptable. We'll be back nonetheless.
