Meat & Potatoes is a high end gastropub in downtown Pittsburgh. Its kitchen takes as its inspiration the idea of elevating comfort food to a gourmet level. Its chefs are inspired by fresh, seasonal ingredients and its bar staff creates innovative cocktails and serves a range of wines by the glass and draught beers, as well. The menu at Meat & Potatoes is a new take on basic. There are classic appetizers like fried pickles, grilled bread and fried Brussels sprouts, as well as more innovative fare like fried pigs ear and buttermilk fried chicken liver. Meat & Potatoes mains include pot roast, salmon and lamb neck cassoulet.

The 50oz Tomahawk was delicious. It wasn’t 50oz of meat but it’s enough to spilt between two people

Every time I come to Pittsburgh, this is must on my list of places to eat. The cocktails are great, the food is very creatively put together and has tons of excellent flavors. Great service, and overall a great experience.

Beef wagu appetizer was amazing. Ask for extra jalapeno slices with it. Filet was also very nicely done. Bartender is skilled and professional.

Good was not executed well for the price they are valued at. Cold pasta, cold NY strip with the steak frites, over cooked pork chop. Great looking menu, great ambiance, fun bar, but spending 250+ on a dinner for two with poorly executed food is disappointing.

This was a first and last trip to M&P. I ordered the filet for $69 and it was about the size of a small filet at Texas Roadhouse but no was as good. Steak was just warm and the wedge salad was terrible. The Romain lettuce was tough to cut and worse to try and chew. Save your money and go to Ruth Chris and get a better meal for less money or even Texas Roadhouse for that matter.

Was okay until our entree came… great apps&cocktail… pork candy/carpaccio/negroni Delicious But the steak frites came late and the NY strip was MW at best as we ordered MR… disappointing and mentioned to server it was over cooked and did not want to send back for a refire as would take too long and was the end of service time, we were not expecting a free meal or anything as we chose to eat it but personally as a chef I always appreciate feed back positive or negative… was just hoping our server would share with the kitchen or chef or even a manager but no one touched our table for more feedback Was our first visit and good overall just disappointed in the end especially for a 65$ steak to not be cooked properly or someone to acknowledge our feedback so hopefully over cooked proteins at that price point does not happen often…

Ordered Filet and my wife ordered strip steak. Both steaks were burnt inside and out. The meals were tiny with very little side. I would not bother to go to this place based on price and the food quality. There are much better more fancy restaurants that will give you an excellent meal for less of a price. Not happy and will never go back .

My wife loved her scallops. The salmon was very creative and delicious. Potato soup was excellent. Our waiter was very friendly. They made sure we had time to get to our show. Would definitely recommend this establishment 👍👍
