McLarens has three rooms for functions, the Loft, the Parlour and the Tellers Room. The Parlour and Teller's Rooms are great for intimate dining occasions, whilst the loft is perfect for more relaxed functions with a buffet-style menu.

Food was disappointing and small portions - avo toast was brown and mushy, croll only contained 1 sausage and kids banana french toast - banana was unripe. Used to be a lovely place for brunch but is going very downhill - been disappointed last 2 visits and would avoid going back. Staff were lovely but didn’t seem very sure of orders, seating which was just unusual. I don’t mind paying for quality but the menu has cheapened with quality

The staff were very welcoming and attentive making our anniversary meal one to remember. The service for food and drinks was perfect meaning we didn’t have to wait for anything we needed. We’ve been here a few times and always enjoy the experience and definitely will be back.

Starters were nice. Mains, cod well cooked but sauce a little bland as was the prawn pasta sauce. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Whoever is in control of the music, needs to learn to “ read the room”. There were many people eating and talking to each other with rock electric guitar music playing. This was early evening 30.12.24. Waiting staff were lovely and made the experience. Lovely nice surroundings. Food needs more flavour.

Breakfasts not up to the usual standard on the last couple of visits, link sausage pre cooked then just warmed up, soda bread cut too thick and served hard rather than freshly toasted, coffee served in a small cup which doesn’t last you through the meal.

As non alcohol drinkers, there is often a feeling of pressure by serving staff in other restaurants which was not felt at all at Mclarens. Pleasant attitude by non pushy staff was much appreciated. Food was lovely. A ceasar salad, a philly cheesesteak, a pudding with 2 spoons and coffee. All delicious.

Went as a party of 4 (and a dog). The booth seating is a little tight for 4 people. Service was very good but the food was disappointing, particularly the desserts. Sticky Toffee pudding was overbaked and the cranachan lacked any whisky. I had the Phili cheesesteak sandwich and the beef was too tough to bite off . Others had filet steak and they said it was past well done. Won’t bother going back. The owners have better pubs and restaurants in Edinburgh such as the Fountain and Element.

Dry scones, otherwise nice. Should retain selection of pastries, croissants, fresh scones as well as brunch type things

Lovely lunch with 3 children who had the kids hamburgers & make your own sundae. Service was exceptional as nothing was too much trouble for our waitress, Lucy, from colouring stuff for the children to lots of ketchup!
