Founded in 1996 the ideas for the Marblehead Chowder House were actually hatched a few years before. Sitting at "The Barnacle," overlooking Marblehead Harbor one raw winter day, while the spume from the rough saltwater painted the windows and the Sam Adams Lager flowed freely, a concept was born. Casual, coastal and cozy - fresh seafood, fin fish, shellfish and hearty chowders in a warm, relaxing atmosphere that says "seaside" - a place that had tradition, patriotism, and a New England heritage about it. Fresh ingredients, house-made soups and chowders, comfort food with a twist freshly prepared to order were all musts! Features unique to New England were the foundation – Ipswich Belly Clams (aka steamers, softshells, pissers), fresh Lobster Roll, a Raw Bar with half-shell oysters and clams and, of course, live Lobsters arriving regularly. Lighthouses and other nautical décor highlight the ambience to create a coastal dining experience like none other in the greater Lehigh Valley.

    Food was great at the right price. Service was very good. Was relatively quiet. Got there around 7 pm. Will definitely be going back! Thank you.

    Food was good as always. We sat in the bar area and it was very noisy due to it being trivia night. But overall it was a good experience

    A nice surprise! Wonderful service and delicious seafood in a warm, creative environment. Extensive menu—so many delightful choices! Definitely plan to return.

    We always enjoy the cold Cocktail Shrimp and Mushroom-Crab soup on Tuesday nights. This week we included the Fish & Chips which were very good; light, crispy, and hot. Service was good, as normal. Restuarant was not very busy (at 7:15 PM) so noise level was low. We will continue to visit for our TUESDAY NIGHT DATE

    We've been to this restaurant before and it was great, but our experience on Saturday night was not good at all. First, we had no utensils or napkins, server did not even notice. We both ordered lobster bisque and it was okay; didn't see or taste any lobster. I ordered the lobster risotto balls basket; it was awful. The balls had no lobster, just filler. I left most of it behind. We will not go back again.
