A longtime bar owner (The Pour House in West Orange, The Boiler Room in Garfield), Mama Dag’s owner Anthony Dagostino wanted his first restaurant venture to honor the memory of his beloved mom, Patricia (aka Patsy, the original “Mama Dag”), who encouraged his love of homestyle cooking and hospitality. Inspired by family traditions, Anthony recreated recipes from memory to capture the food of his youth, and is committed to sourcing the finest, freshest local seafood possible.

Mama Dag’s proudly serves elevated Italian seafood-focused fare in a casual, convivial setting reminiscent of an old-school NYC clam bar … or, if you’re Italian American, your family’s basement kitchen! People come to Mama Dag’s for a communal experience. Pasta was delicious! It would have been nice to be served before the people who were seated after us . Or even taken our order... In addition, our drinks were not brought to our table until after the meal was served and we reminded the waiters. I had to ask 3 times for Parmesan cheese. The 2 pasta dishes were good, but not worth the horrible service!

The food was fine. The service was awful (and went from inexperienced and harried to rude). We won’t be back despite perfectly acceptable food.

An amazing gem of a place. Would never believe such an amazing place existed so close. The area is easily accessed. The staff was amazing and accommodating. Frequently checked in to ensure that we were okay given that we were seated outside and the weather was not so great. Notwithstanding the place was adequately warmed. The food is amazing. The mother's days special was worth every cent. The portions were so good that we all went away with someo f our meal. Well done! Caroline Eugene Saint Lucia

All four of us thoroughly enjoyed the food. Service was very attentive & the restaurant is attractive. Portions were very large; each of us took home enough for another meal. The Meatballs were large and delicious as was the Chicken Parm.

I go to Mama Dags often and it never disappoints. Food is fantastic, ambiance is wonderful. Last night was a new waiter, I think and he wasn't 100% but friendly and our order was correct. Another great meal!!
