Born and raised in Kansas City Missouri, southern hospitality is on the top of our list. It’s more than tradition. It’s ice cold beer, key lime pie, and a party in our backyard. Our family wanted to turn passion into a reality in 2013, so we came together and opened Mallards. With Dad in charge of the menu all of our favorites started showing up! From Jambalaya to Tennessee Hot Chicken, our story finds itself on each and every plate!

We are a family of 6 and received two adult menus and two kids menus. When I asked for another I was told they could only give out a certain amount per party. We were not give crayons with the two kids menus, when I asked for crayons, I was told they did not have any. Being that this is a new restaurant at Bayshore in a location that has had other restaurants that have closed multiple times, I would highly suggest paying attention to all of the small things that could make or break someone returning. I watched a family with 4 small kids where the mom was pregnant and she too asked for crayons, just to be told they didn’t have any. It isn’t easy going out to eat with little kids for larger families. At any rate- in terms of the food, we ordered two Caesar salads that we did not finish because they were overdressed and over salted. We had steak fettuccine, the steak was good but the fettuccine and sauce was underwhelming. We also ordered the sure and turf (being that we went on Christmas Eve, there was a limited amount of options to chose from) the portions were very small for a plate that was nearly $30 but, I did enjoy the meal. We also ordered the fritters, crab cakes and two kids meals, those tasted as expected. I’ve been to mallards in other states, I’m rooting for this place but, these small details matter and I would hope the food is a bit more tasty.

What a disappointment. We waited 15 minutes for our drinks. My entrée arrived first, but my wife had to wait another 15 minutes before hers came. It was happy hour and beers were advertised at half off, but we weren’t given the discount even after contesting the bill. At that point, we just wanted to get out of there. Our water glasses were never refilled. My wife had to wait another 15 minutes for her second drink. And despite numerous trips to the table, our waitress never cleared our dishes after we were done with dinner and left empty-handed. Staff appeared to be unprepared and untrained. It was not a pleasant experience.

Food is really good but portions seem too small for the price esp in this location where portions were sizable in previous establishments. This is a hungry crowd area and not dainty eaters. Good service! Second time here:)

Food was fabulous! We particularly liked the crab cakes, Korean meatballs and jambalaya.

My sister and I had a delicious lunch today at Mallards. We both had the jambalaya--terrific--and shared a piece of key lime pie. Our server was very attentive.

Went to breakfast with Santa and had a really good time. The buffet was really good kids loved it. I only wish they had pancakes but other then that a good time and good food.

Overall fine. Perhaps some more education for the hostess and manager on customer service, how to seat and coordinate would be helpful. Otherwise food was great for the price, waitstaff awesome and atmosphere was nice.

Service was very poor. Long wait time to get food. My order was wrong. We asked the server to separate the bills and it took him 3 tries to get it correct.

We had excellent service today! I had the walleye fish Tacos & Cajun fries. They both were very good! I am definitely looking forward to going back to have their Jamabalyia
