We were delighted to try out this local sustainable restaurant and I briefed them about my dietary requirements. However the service initially was woefully poor but was taken over by the manager who was excellent. The parsnip soup was beautiful but without the chilli and coriander oil. Garlic seemed to lace most things on the menu which made our choices somewhat limited. My lemon sole was fairly tasteless but not overcooked. It came with the wrong salad. Malcolm’s duck was ok but he had to abandon the sauce and red cabbage because of the garlic?…please don't put garlic in everything! Not sure we will rush back but we will keep an eye out for the spring menu…..

The food was well-presented but lacked any particular characteristc. Moreover, the main course portions were quite small. The choice of dishes was quite restrictive. The wines were expensive. For instance, a satistfactory but quite ordinary generic Pinot Noir was £55 for a bottle. I would guess that it would have retailed at between £10 - £15. The service was excellent - both efficient and friendly. The ambience was spacious and pleasant. The absence of piped music was a plus. Overall, I think this restaurant is too expensive for what it offers. There are much more interesting eating experiences with in a mile or two of this restaurant - e.g. Table du Marche, the Bull and Last and Parakeet.

Delicious food and warm cosy atmosphere. Friendly staff and poodle friendly. Always a pleasure to visit Lussmanns.

We six had a lovely evening on Tuesday. I had the Trout, which was very good. Others had lamb, sole, and halibut. All very good. Desserts were also very good. Very pleasant evening all around. I would return! The prix fixe menu is very reasonable.
