Lost Watering Hole, The Lancefield Brewery was born from a tiny idea two mates from Lancefield had one day whilst having a beer… “Let’s open a brewery!” They never expected that one day, several years later, Lost Watering Hole, The Lancefield Brewery would become the special place it is today. It all began in 1888, when Henry Lindsay bought the former flour mill in Lancefield and converted it into a brewery (God bless him…). Lindsay trademarked the name ‘The Trent Brewery’ and began producing both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. In the years that followed, the brewery changed hands many times, continuing to trade until early 1898, when it seems both the building and equipment were put up for auction, although it did not find a buyer. Sadly, a mysterious fire gutted the building the night after the auction, signalling its closure. Gladly, our brewery is lost no more… Today, we are proud to welcome you and your friends to Lancefield’s brewery, Lost Watering Hole.

I have dined at the Lost Watering Hole before on a Saturday evening and the food was good. we had lunch there last Friday 8th November 2024, friends came from Melbourne, my meal and my girlfriends' meal were not good. Lamb was overcooked and my calamari was rubbery, coleslaw salad looked old, not fresh or inviting. We told the staff that we did not like our meals, and we had no response or offer of discount or refund. I had two future bookings for the Lost Watering Hole though after having lunch there last Friday. I have cancelled them. I would have thought the staff would have explained to the manager that we had issues with our meals and the manager would have come over and discussed our issues with us. Very disappointing.

Firstly booking was easy online with a quick confirmation being received soon after booking. We ordered the Barramundi Tacos which were delicious. We as sled for one of the tacos to be moderated slightly due to a good intolerance and this was done without fuss, so thank you! Lovely food plus the iced tea was great too. Highly recommend The Lancefield Brewery- Lost Watering Hole.

A spacious and modern venue with enthusiastic staff and a good range of beers and meals. lovely view over the hills and of some historic Lancefield buildings. Outside tables can be utilised on sunny days.
