Local 149 replaced a Southie classic known as, “The Farragut House.” Therefore this new restaurant is a more modern, family version of a Southie diner. Local does a nice job upholding the legacy of this iconic location, but they could take a bit more pride in their work on the floor by showing exceptional service and offer more food and coffee options for those who do not meet the traditional identity of a Southie resident in 2024. Thanks for having us; we had a nice time overall.

This was our first visit to Local 149 and we were pleasantly surprised. The vibe is great, the service was great, and the food was great. We will definitely be making it a good to location when we are in southie for the day.

Went here for Sunday brunch, service was good considering there was only one waitress on. Mac and cheese balls were amazing, nachos we could’ve skipped (melted/congealed nacho cheese versus actual melted cheese). Ordered the breakfast burger medium rare, came out more well-done. Great atmosphere and solid spot for drinks and apps.

Loved this place. Perfect spot for a date night and they have lots of fun events throughout the week. The food was great, I got the Thai Noodle bowl and it was delicious.

Distinctive neighborhood gem with better-than-typical gastropub fare. We loved the goat cheese balls, duck confit bao buns, cheeseburger sliders, and burnt ends, and appreciated the excellent service. Very reasonable prices too.

Nice friendly meal with attentive service. We enjoyed our meals, particularly the fried pickle appetizer and the grilled chicken sandwich and the happy meal burger. We didn’t realize that Monday was trivia night, but that added nicely to our enjoyable experience.
