After reading glowing online reviews and hearing a foodie friend's positive comments, I decided to give it a try with my wife and a visiting friend. First, I was disappointed to learn upon arrival that there is only valet parking taken to a remote site at a cost of $20. Upon entering the restaurant, I was pleased to see the attractive interior. The chair in which I had to sit had a hard, wooden bottom and was unusually low. Hence, my sitting experience wasn't good. Our waiter had such a strong Italian accent that he was hard to understand and he was overly familiar for my old-fashioned taste. The printed menu wasn't well designed and the print was so small that it was hard to read. The menu items were so unusual that I had trouble deciding what to order. The prices were quite high even by Miami standards. For example, the 3 appetizers averaged $29, a bottle of white Pierre Labet Beaune was $143, our 3 entrees averaged $41 and our espressos were $8. All in with tax & tip, we spent $156.50 per person. As a comparison, we paid an average of $70.50/pp the last two times that we dined at Ferraro's Kitchen (ferraroskitchen.com) which in our opinion is the best Italian restaurant in S. Fla. In addition to have a more appealing menu, better waiters, a quieter ambiance and comfortable chairs, there is ample parking which is free during the week and $5 for the weekend valets.

La Martola is a beautiful new Italian restaurant in the ever growing area of Buena Vista. It’s a large restaurant with lots of inside and outdoor dining. The food is great - lots of options for appetizers and main courses and a long list of pizzas. We had the burrata salad with soft creamy cheese sprinkled with pistachios, the tagliolini with lemon and the Classico (or margherita) pizza which was very tasty and delicious. There is a nice wine list with lots of wines by the glass. A great experience. We sat outside and the live music was a little loud - perhaps acoustic, rather than electronic music would be better in the space. But a delightful delicious meal that warrants a return visit.

Having a local Mediterranean/Bistro within walking distance this good is a JOY! The interiors are calm, refreshing & the wine list compliments the food very well. Above all however is the amazing team! I can work late or entertain friends all while having a healthy delicious meal.

Four of us enjoyed a pizza to start followed by lemon pasta, a 40-ounce flame grilled porterhouse, orta. and sides of fries and olives. All delicious. The reception was wonderful and our server was cordial and helpful. The rest of the service was lacking. Food wasn’t served correctly, a glaring lack of attentiveness until we had to give instructions and ask questions about what sauces were on the table. My thought is that they expect you to sort out your food and serve it yourself. Aside from being slighted by this, the ambience is Med light and fresh white casual. Valet parking if you’re driving. Street parking isn’t advisable. We live locally and take ride services.
