La Foret offers fine French dining in an old country setting. We are proudly now offering outdoor dining!!!The historically significant building rests next to a quietly meandering stream in the verdant foothills of New Almaden. Picture windows surrounding the entire dining area allow you to fully enjoy the quietly beautiful surroundings during your meal. Specializing in fine French cuisine, La Foret has earned its place among the area's finest restaurants and in fact has been listed among the 50 best French restaurants in the United States.

La Foret ha an extensive wine list, which includes French and Napa Valley selections. It offers a tasting menu and brunch on Sundays.

This restaurant has private rooms for catering banquet-style private events. It also hosts weddings with capacity for up to 130 guests.

I've been going to La Foret for years. Maybe they were short staffed yesterday because their usual attentiveness was off. It was awhile before our server checked back with us. I also saw the wait staff going upstairs a bit so maybe there was a private party that took time away from us "downstairs". Also, we suspect that our Grand Marnier Souffle order was put in late because we had to wait a while for it., but it's worth the wait. The food was very good as always. I do have to call out the Scallops appetizer. It's $27 and we got only two scallops. Two. I didn't realize it until my dinner partner told me on the way home. It seems gauche to ask how many of the appetizer we'll served but going forward, I will. $27 for two? Really?

Compared to last years experience, this was not great. This was a holiday business dinner and the service was not good. We waited 10-15 mins without even a menu. I tried multiple times to get someone’s attention, finally one of us had to leave the table to ask to order a $200+ of champagne. The woman who finally picked up the table was lovely, but at that point we had already been waiting for over 20 mins. Our overall bill was $1300+tip. The food is always good and the atmosphere was very nicely decorated for the holiday.

A very enjoyable evening at La Forêt. Interesting menu which allowed us all to swap and taste each other's choices. The elk was incredibly tender, the bison was also very tender and cooked beautifully and the venison (which was a very generous portion!) provided us with lunch the following day as well. Our waitress, Tania was friendly and attentive.

Dinner experience was excellent, I was at La Foret with my wife celebrating our anniversary, and we tried the tasting menu experience. Everything was beyond delicious, a true parade of flavors: prawns, scallops, elk, lamb, quail, tortellini, paired with excellent wines, we tried Roederer Estate, Brut, Anderson, as well as the Domaine Comte De Lauze, Chateauneuf-Du-Pape 2018. The place is beautiful, with an elegant warming atmosphere. lastly, he service was excellent, our waiter Shawn had a deep knowledge on every menu item, very polite, with a charming attitude, he made the experience even better.

The experience is pretty nice! Our reservation was at 6:30 and the checkin couldn't find our name on the system. But since there's some empty table, we still available to be seated on time. The waiter and waitress were kind and professional. (My wife emphasize their photographing skill is way better than mine) Food was good. We ordered tasting menu 2 and 3. Salad, seafood, and other appetizers were delicious and fresh. Entrees we got lamb and beef, which was over what I expected. The environment and food quality are totally worth the price.

La Foret continues to be one of the truly special dining experiences of the South Bay. It has been our go to dining experience in San Jose for over 40 years.

Service was great, the Bison and souffle were excellent, the wild boar was average. The atmosphere was quietly romantic until a group of 3 couples arrived and just send the noise level through the roof. We were having dessert at this point so didn't complain, but management still should have stepped in. Feel sorry for the other guests...
