Locally designed with the help of some of Toronto’s best street style artists, La Carnita is the spot to enjoy delicious tacos, a handful of churros, run through a mixtape, and wash it all down with a fresh cocktail or beer. Our aim is to serve up a dynamic menu, and connect with the community through our love of art & music.

Located in the financial district is La Carnita’s South Central location in a beautiful two-story heritage building. The upstairs makes for an engaging venue, seating 55 guests with its own bar.

Food and drinks were tasty. Items arrived promptly so it was easy to eat & go to a show. It was quite load where we were seated due to the speakers. Comfortable booth seating.

We very much enjoyed the restaurant and food was delicious and plenty. The only issue was the food appetizer came after our meal and our waiter never came back to check on us or offer more drinks… however the hostess was excellent and ordered more drinks for us!

The portions are way too small for the price. I requested a birthday desert with my reservation and a birthday wasn’t even acknowledged. The waitress rushed to take our orders, didn’t ask us if we wanted any alcoholic beverages. We would have ordered 2 drinks but we were annoyed at the fact she didn’t take the time to listen to us, she was just rushing. So we just drank water, ate our food, paid and left.

Absolutely fantastic experience yet again at the John street location! We were celebrating a big milestone for my son and the server recognized this went above and beyond making our lunch on Monday one of the most memorable as a family! I told the manager he should give this server a raise! Way to go and thank you for a great day!

La Carnita provided a comfortable and cozy environment to enjoy while we waited and dined in - from energetic music to the warm lighting provided, it was very nice! we were seated and informed of the location of bathrooms and the time limit (2 hours) for eating, which was fine considering the service was incredibly quick (our reservation was at 7:30 and we had finished eating by 8:15). we had the Mexican street corn starter, which deliciously melted in your mouth with Cojita cheese and creama sauce. we then shared the loaded nachos and the special for the day (Crunchwrap tacos) which delivered an incredible blend of flavors to enjoy! finally, we had the tres leches cake for dessert and it was superb - light and fluffy with the right amount of sweetness and tart with blueberries on top! we were just visiting Toronto, but La Carnita will remain as a definite favorite looking back on our trip. we’ll definitely have to come back!

Food was really good, small portions, quite pricey for what it was. Not impressed with the mandatory 18% tip. Time to do away with tipping and just pay employees appropriately.
