Founded by chef Kyoichi Kai, of Zuma and Arts Club prestige, KOUZU is an elegant Japanese restaurant set in a grand historical Grade-II listed beautiful period mansion from the 1850’s with a huge palatial entrance door, across from Goring Hotel.

The dining area is set out over three levels.
– The mezzanine level features the Main Restaurant and Omakase Sushi Bar, where you can enjoy signature dishes such as Soft Shell Crab, Black Cod, Tempura Vegetables.
– The Cocktail Bar & Lounge on the ground floor is the perfect place for pre- or post-dinner drinks and nibbles.
– Downstairs, through the silver open-plan kitchen is an 8-seater Private Dining Room where guests can dine exclusively and watch KOUZU’s highly skilled team of Chefs at work.

I took 5 of my colleagues for a meal having visited many times with my wife and knew how good it would be. All colleagues thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back. Many thanks.

Fantastic food and great service: My 2nd visit here and can say these guys really are passionate about their food and customer experience. The restaurant was quite full so we were glad we booked. All the food was excellent! The sushi rolls and salmon nigiri were really fresh and lovely. Restaurant was beautiful, the food was incredible, tasty, amazing presentation! Service too was attentive from the waiter...and not intrusive. If you go I highly recommend the Japanese desserts - the mochi! The location is a 5 minute walk from Victoria Station. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to all!!

My family of five dined at Kouzu while on vacation. Each of us felt a very strange vibe at Kouzu. We were seated in a corner of the first level by a woman who then took our drink orders. There was only one or two other tables filled. My son ordered a soda—a coke. She said they didn’t serve any soda in the restaurant. Really? So he instead ordered a water. She proceeded to bring a large bottle of water that she opened in front of us. I asked what it was—that he wanted just a tap water in place of the soda they didn’t carry. The server then left the table. Another gentlemen came around and sort of took over. I asked him why they didn’t carry any other drinks except water—he said oh we have lemonade coke, Diet Coke etc. The next strange thing was the menu. They gave us ample time with the menu and when they came to take our order I asked what a certain thing was—he said oh that’s a priz five menu that’s different! This menu has never been passed out to us. This was a sushi restaurant and what is nice—and needed quite honestly—is a rundown of each item as it’s placed on the table, as the majority of us ordered a la carte. This didn’t happen. I will say the food itself was delicious, however, the strange vibe we got coupled with the sizable price tag would deter me from patronizing this restaurant again if given the chance.

Kouzu's food is always outstanding and highly recommended! But the service can be rather slow, even when the restaurant is not very full - an area for improvement...

Lovely ambience with high quality food. Only issue is that it's quite a leisurely service so not great if you're limited to an hour. Recommended if you're having a working lunch as it's not noisy and there isn't pressure to leave immediately after service. I'd go again.
