Karstens Public House is named after Henry Karsten, the man who helped lead the first expedition of Denali and it is located one mile north of the Denali National Park Entrance at the McKinley Chalet Resort. Karstens is part of Denali Square, which is the heartbeat of the Holland America Denali Lodge. Outdoor dining showcases sweeping views of the surrounding mountains along with indoor dining that provides an inviting and lively atmosphere. Guests will enjoy local craft brews, signature cocktails and authentic Alaska comfort foods like Smoked Salmon Chowder, Beer Battered Halibut, Seared Alaskan Salmon and the ever-popular Dive-In burger. Karstens also serves a scrumptious breakfast menu with sweet and savory options that are sure to start your day off right.

Chelsea was an excellent server and gave us great recommendations! Fish & chips were excellent, salmon cacio e pepe tasty and brisket was tender. Place was packed but service did not suffer

The fact that reservations were required for everything was a BIG turnoff. Wanted to just have a cup of coffee and was told I had to go to the bar and not use the dining room unless I chose to have the buffet. There wasn't place a place to go just to relax. And the prices.....wow! Can't see where I would go to the resort again.

The food was very good with sizable portions. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and suggested several menu paired items. The Berry Lemonade was outstanding, so refreshing and the Strawberry shortcake for dessert was fantastic with fresh fresh strawberries and fresh cream. It is a large space and if full is rather noisy. With live music you have to speak loud to have a conversation.

Karstens Was a nice store;; from Mckinly chalets. WE got great service food and ambiance. It was nice to get away fro the resort for a bit.(Less crowded)

The server was not very good with English. It was hard to understand him. Entrees were very good. Caesar salad was huge! Way too big for a starter. Fish and chips were great! Desert was fabulous!

Food was not too good. Salmon was small and dry and the rockfish was too buttery and not great taste. Tomato soup tasted like marinara sauce. Service was so so.

Casual dining in a bar and grill atmosphere. We had the fish and chips which was delicious. Server was attentive and gave good advice on selecting a beer to fit my taste. The two musicians that played added a nice touch to the atmosphere. Great voices and perfect song selections. Very popular place so reservations are a good idea.
