We are Kaizen. It all started when longtime friends from Flushing, Queens, came together with an idea that would soon be introduced to their hometown city. They all shared the same love for Japanese traditions and the simplicity, yet, flavorful ingredients that are carefully constructed into each Temaki. Our passion is to bring an authentic and contemporary Temaki (hand rolls) & Omakase concept that highlights delicate hand rolls and artful craft cocktail pairings to Flushing, Queens. The executive chef, Ben, also a former executive chef at Sushi Seki, an Alumnus of Michelin-starred Tim Ho Wan, in Hong Kong, and New York’s O Ya and Kissaki omakase sushi bar. From the decadent rice to each finely cut of fish, Ben takes pride in every individual piece that he prepares.

Important: The sushi counter is only reserved for omakase.

The Sushi Master is great in detail and knife skill. Some nigiri has great combination of knife skill, flavor, and ingredient. I think the food quality is good as a great selection of chef special. However, the staffs are busy decorating the restaurant while customers are eating. Personally I found that is somehow strange and uncomfortable. The manager should plan ahead and schedule the works like this while the shop has no customers.

Tried the $100 omakase and the food was delicious but overall overpriced for the quality and variety. Two major issues for me: first, the service was not well trained; friendly but inexperienced and the flow was totally off. At the start the food came super fast, with several dishes out at the same time, then we had a 20-25 min gap between dishes, which is awful because you feel full midway. Second bad point was that the dresser was very disappointing - just a green tea mochi, plain, no decoration or nothing, as if you just got it from the supermarket… Far from top omakase experience.
