Kahaani is the sort of venue where you could order butter chicken, but you probably shouldn't order butter chicken. No one's going to raise any eyebrows if you do, but you'd be missing out on some of the treasures that lie deeper into the menu.

Kahaani itself is classic Lygon: a long, narrow dining hall, with funky industrial lighting and exposed brick down one side. The front window opens out onto the street, letting the breeze and Lygon nightlife waft in.

Hi Kahani team, We came back yesterday with our friends after a wonderful first time at Kahani on Aug this year. However we were disappointed with the food yesterday. Ordered a range of items, the most disappointing one was Chicken Biryani. Food overall was not up to standard. We hope you'll continue to maintain the high food standards that drew us in initially.

This was a case of good food, however, was let down by slow service. They also didn’t bring meals out together.

Along with super expensive curries and breads the portion of starters was too small (for the price) and charged us $9 for a glass (not bottle) of sparkling water

What a great find. Everything you want in a restaurant. Service exceptional. Food presentation and taste was just so great. I would recommend this surprising restaurant to anyone who enjoys good food

The food is beautiful and so is the atmosphere. The serving sizes are extremely small given the price. I would say its worth the experience, but if you want to be full, expect to spend a fair bit.

Kunal has been a real pleasure to deal with. We had some last minute changes but nothing was an issue. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

The menu choices were excellent and the staff were very helpful with explanations about the food. We were all very happy with our choices and will definitely return.
