Vibrant spices, crackling wood-burning ovens and boutique South African wines transport you to the heart of Africa. Twin wood-burning ovens roar as subtly changing light mimics the warm red, orange and gold tones of an African sunset. Watch chefs prepare appetizers in the open show kitchen, and discover a delicious blend of traditional African, Indian and Mediterranean cuisine. Steak, chicken, seafood, vegan and vegetarian dishes are infused with a uniquely bold blend of tantalizing flavors and fragrant spices. Changing seasonally, the menu may include flavor bursting appetizers like imaginative brick oven-fired flatbreads and mouth-watering entrées such as oak-grilled filet mignon. Service was poor with dirty dishes not cleared between courses. The server had the attitude that all tourists are just”lucky” to be at the restaurant. The service did not match the price.

We visited the Animal Kingdom Lodge just for dinner. We heard from friends Jiko had an excellent wine list. That did not disappoint, as our wine was delicious. But the service was SO slow. The only think that came fast was our toddler’s dinner. We ordered no appetizers and received no bread. It took our entree an hour to arrive. The food was fine, but not nearly worth the price tag. I really thought I would see more at a Disney property.

The filet mignon and Kushari were amazing. Worth a visit even if you aren’t a guest of Animal Kingdom Lodge!

Not bad but not awesome. Some of the food was really good: flatbread, filet mignon. The bread was not warm, no flavor really, same with the butter. My boyfriend got the lamb and it just didn’t have enough flavor, kind of bland. The environment was cool with music, although some people weren’t adhering to the dress code. Overall, were disappointed we spent that kind of money for not amazing food. But hey, it’s Disney food. Can’t expect anything crazy good.

It’s just too much money for the value. The food, ambiance and service were all very good, but not excellent. We would have done better to take the buffet at Boma.

My issue was the online reservations, I wanted to eat at Boma not Jiko. When I made the reservations but I am not sure how or when in the process my preferred restaurant got changed. When we arrived they would accommodate us at Boma but they were completely booked at the wait could have been several hours.

We took the tour of the restaurants the day before and chose to eat with Jiko for our birthdays. We had to keep reminding the server we were celebrating birthdays. We wore pins as well. The food was good and we had the bone marrow. We asked for a small variation on the set menu but the waiter said "unfortunately" so many times we gave up trying to reason with him. We even asked to speak to the chef but the chef never appeared or acknowledged us. TWO BIRTHDAYS and we asked to see the chef and "unfortunately" we won't be coming back. If the chef or kitchen cannot accommodate a menu variation then "unfortunately" we will go elsewhere. Boma is a great restaurant but "unfortunately" there was not a reservation at a reasonable time for us.
