I go to Jaya often. This was my first time dining at Japón. Although the restaurant is beautiful and it shares the courtyard with the same entertainment as Jaya, the food was just okay and the service was definitely lacking. It was very obvious that the gratuity was included because we felt neglected the majority of our time there. We more than likely would not rebook.

I’m not one to usually complain, but I feel I need to share my thoughts. The food was decent, though I wouldn’t describe it as great Asian fusion or sushi. The server was friendly and kind, which I appreciated. However, the seating was an issue. We were placed at a table that was right up against the bar—so tight that I couldn’t even move my right arm, and if I turned my head, I’d have hit the bar. It was an awful seating arrangement, and honestly, no one should be seated there. I understand they try to fit in as many people as possible, but that spot is just unreasonable. Also, regarding the dress code, I think the restaurant should reconsider listing it on their website. Many guests were dressed in shorts and tank tops, while others appeared to have just come from the beach. While some were dressed nicely, there was no real enforcement of the dress code.

If you’re looking for a place that offers phenomenal food and first-class service in a luxurious setting, Setai Japon is an absolute must-visit. It’s an experience I won’t soon forget, and I can’t wait to return.

Waited an hour to be sat after our reservation time and then hurried out of the restaurant by the management to turn the table. This was the standard with all patrons last night we observed. The food was mediocre, I’ve had better sushi from a chain restaurant 1000 miles away from the ocean. Not exactly what you’d expect from a fine dining establishment with the prices they were charging. I never leave a bad review on any site or have the care or time to do so but I hope to save someone else the waste of time to eat here.
