El chef Anthony Chittum, nativo de la costa este de Maryland, se ha ganado su reputación no solo por su cocina, sino también por su compromiso con adquirir sus ingredientes de agricultores, marineros y artesanos culinarios locales.     Wonderful food and atmosphere, but our server was very bad. He was slow in every step of the dining process, it took us telling him something 4-5 times to get him to bring us things, he spilled a large portion of the bottle of our wine on the table (and didn’t apologize), and took around 25 mins to bring us our wine (which was disappointing having it arrive almost halfway through our meal). We asked to speak to a sommelier when ordering, but our server said he could handle answering questions. Unfortunately, he couldn’t answer anything we asked. Each time we needed more water, silverware, additional drinks, we had to ask other servers or food runners. He was never available or around. He ruined our otherwise special experience.

    Was excited to visit - had a single reservation as I was traveling alone. Very quick service - too quick! My dish arrived within ten minutes of sitting down, before I finished the chef’s hummus. Within 20 minutes my check arrived for $75. I joked to the waitress and she said the kitchen did not have a lot to do so they made my dish quickly. Oh well.

    We have eaten at the Iron Gate Inn on and off for decades. The primary attraction has always been the ambience; the food has been acceptable. Last night, not so much on both scores. The night was quite cold and there was a cold draft at floor level. The food really didn't measure up...and oyster first course with a foam that was less than a simple vinegarette would have been, and two pasta dishes that were not very appealing. The staff was courteous and helpful and the site remains attractive.

    Griffin was so helpful and recommended wine pairings and courses for us to try. He was very knowledgeable about the wines and answered all our questions. He wrote us a personal note congratulating us on our anniversary and engagement and really made the whole night very special. The food was very tasty and well worth the price. We both left stuffed and happy! Thanks for ringing in this new chapter with us.

    We sat outside and froze on Valentine’s Day. We had 10pm reservations and you could tell the staff was exhausted by that point in the point.

    Wonderful Valentine’s Day experience with exceptional food and service. The restaurant is cozy, charming and romantic, but had to ding it one star on ambience because there were too many tables for the space making it a bit cramped. Wine choices were somewhat limited, but sommelier guided us to a fantastic wine. Overall an excellent experience and look forward yo returning!
