Iris is named for the celebrated Mediterranean flower, and as a gentle nod to the “Evil Eye”, a regional legend known to ward off evil and bring great luck. Located in an iconic building of Midtown Manhattan, Iris is a restaurant that aims to showcase the best preparations of the Eastern Mediterranean region. The ambition behind this culinary initiative is to focus on the style of eating rather than the provenance of each dish. Approachable, wholesome and minimally manipulated, the cuisine will show another facet of the ingredient-forward cuisine that has built John Fraser’s reputation.

The staff at Iris really made our anniversary dinner special. We had tickets for broadway and when mentioned that we had to leave at a certain time they made sure our food was timely and also squeezed in a desert. Everyone was so polite and professional, we loved it.

My friend and I had a spectacular dining experience at Iris. The food was impeccable, and we enjoyed trying a new dish this time - the Trahana tots, which I highly recommend. The cardamom donuts with dark chocolate sauce and labneh were also delightful! The staff was warm and friendly and kept coming over to check up on us. I look forward to returning in the near future!

One of the best branzino meals I have had. Pleasant room with well spaced tables. We will definitely return.

Iris's food is amazinng. Unfortunately they have issues with their heating system and it was very uncomfortable dining there this past Friday night. Call ahead or bring a blanket!

The service was attentive and pleasant. The food was mostly very good. Everyone enjoyed the various mezze and the fresh pita. The branzino was excellent but the moussaka was mostly potato with potato chips on top!? The wine was quite good. But do not go there on a cold night unless you are wearing long underwear. There is a terrible cold leak problem from the glass doors and since it’s a very large space with high ceilings the heating system is inadequate.

My wife and I went to Iris to celebrate Valentine's day and we couldn't have been happier about the experience. The food was delicious and the service was top notch. We will be back to try the short rib, as it was sold out. We had the short rib agnolotti instead which was to die for. We also had the assorted dips appetizer - best tzatziki and babaganoush we have ever had!
