Iris is named for the celebrated Mediterranean flower, and as a gentle nod to the “Evil Eye”, a regional legend known to ward off evil and bring great luck. Located in an iconic building of Midtown Manhattan, Iris is a restaurant that aims to showcase the best preparations of the Eastern Mediterranean region. The ambition behind this culinary initiative is to focus on the style of eating rather than the provenance of each dish. Approachable, wholesome and minimally manipulated, the cuisine will show another facet of the ingredient-forward cuisine that has built John Fraser’s reputation.

Great meal, great service and a beautiful dining room. Our lead waiter was Stephen and he was fantastic. The entire team was very attentive and had great follow through. The food was amazing (the best eggplant appetizer I have ever had). We were a group of 7 - and everyone had a great meal and a great time. We will be back.

My wife and I shared some Tzatziki and Hummus to start. The Pita bread came out hot and puffed up. It was a delicious and the hummus had a unique flavor with sumac. We shared a half chicken, fries and chopped up greens which were also very tasty. The service was professional and everyone appeared to be happy to be working for Iris. We let the server know that we had a show at Carnegie Hall and he arranged to get everything on time so we could get to the show. We'll go back again.

Very good food, comfortable, attractive dining room. Menu interesting as well as pre theatre set menu. Only slight negative was the baklava desert, tasted old, tough and overly spiced.

The food was delicious, and the service - our server was Alicia - was perfect…friendly and professional. Can’t wait to go back.

Iris was a delightful pre-theater experience. I dined with my husband and our 10-year-old daughter. Food exceeded expectations. We enjoyed the lamb flatbread, whipped feta with sourdough pita, crudo, tuna tartare, branzino, and duck. Every dish was flavorful and perfectly prepared. Service was outstanding. Highly recommend.

This meal was the highlight of our food in NYC. Our servers were all incredibly attentive. The food was amazing, we enjoyed well paced courses for 2 hours. The oysters were some of the best I've ever had, rivaling Oslo Norway. The grilled octopus was delicious, so many flavors that worked well together. The whipped feta was good though the chili oil was a little too hot for me. We shared the Spanish Turbot that was also flavorful with a buttery herb sauce. The baklava for dessert was good, though tipping a little too sweet for me. The Greek coffee my husband had was very good and my tea was wonderful, more so for the detail of pre-warming the heavy clay mug AND the milk I requested. I would definitely return to Iris on our next trip to the city. They set a high bar.

We ordered from the express lunch menu which proved to be the perfect choice. Portions were moderate, just right for a lunch. Every dish was imaginative and fresh.
