Opened in 2011, Indigenous has earned a reputation for being an inspirational and educational restaurant. For years, Indigenous has been known as one of America’s top restaurants, renowned for its passion for food, the community, and the planet. Indigenous’ menu of seasonal American cuisine changes progressively throughout the year based on peak ingredient availability. With a focus on sustainable seafood, we work closely with local fisherman, artisans, and farmers to maintain the highest quality. At Indigenous, we are always working our best to create a better food system. Owner Chef Steve Phelps has been a James Beard Foundation Semi Finalist for Best Chef South in 2014 & 2015, an Ambassador for Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch Blue Ribbon Task Force, and a founding member and Chef for the EDF Coalition for Sustainable Aquaculture.

Never a disappointing meal here! Not only is the food exceptional, but it is nice to see familiar faces among the wait staff. This is always our first stop when we return from up north because we know we’ll be treated to a special evening.

One of the all around best dining experiences I’ve ever had! This chef compares favorably to some of my best meals in SF, DC, and NY. Each dish was so complex and well balanced. My group had roasted wild mushroom appetizer (I’m a great wild mushroom home chef but these were clearly at another level.) After tasting the mushroom bisque I understand why it’s a signature dish. My scallops were delicious as was the cobia and the New Zealand salmon. I think my husband’s Papardelle with beef was better than any I’ve had anywhere! Had to try dessert too. White chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream with caramel and apple chips was perfect for me. All in all, although pricey, very reasonably priced for the quality and style.

Sounds like you didnt even dine with us Mary. That is a very rude statement and can in no way be true. Our whole staff is very offended by that comment. We will be sure to keep an eye out for you and share this with all the restaurants in town.

Food is excellent. A wonderful choice of a restaurant. We sat outside in a delightful setting, cool and quiet. Heaters are available. Staff very friendly and attentive.
