Just steps off Ocean Avenue in downtown Carmel, California, Il Tegamino is Carmel's favorite hidden gem. Wander past Carmel's iconic candy shop to find us tucked behind boutiques in a courtyard off the beaten path. We are a tiny restaurant charmingly hidden in Carmel-by-the-Sea's first courtyard. Dine al fresco in our outdoor space within The Court of the Golden Bough courtyard complete with standing heaters and an awning or feel transported to an authentic Italian bistro in our bustling small dining room. We welcome you to come grab a glass of vino in our new wine room. As a local small business, you will often find owner Giuseppe at your table side to welcome you and serve his menu of Italian comfort food inspired by his upbringing in Southern Italy.

Il Tegamino is one of our ‘go to’ when in Carmel-by-the-Sea! Fantastic Italian food! Nice wine list Excellent service Cozy atmosphere We have found reservations are needed regardless of season, day of week or time

From the rest of the reviews maybe it’s an off day for them. Service was quite good, but the food was fair at best. $43 for a pasta is honestly on the higher end, so I did have higher expectations. But I think it’s fair to expect every seafood component of a seafood linguine to have the same temperature as the noodles—the seafood should be at least warm. It’s a simple time management issue but I do think it’s critical. The seafood bucatini carbonara was slightly under seasoned, but the ragu was perfect. Also, if you like your noodles to be properly al dente you should specify, otherwise they cook it a bit more to accommodate the “general public”.

It was the first time at Il Tegamino. Came with my family , a group of eight persons and service was very good. Appetizers were all good, salads were fresh and tasty. Main dishes were very good and plentiful. The only issue was the wine. We ordered a bottle of Cakebread Sauvignon Blanc and it was tainted. When I told the waiter he did not believed me . You could even smell the bad smell that came out as soon as he opened the bottle. A good waiter should identify that and replace the bottle. We chose a different bottle of another wine as they did not had any more of the one We ordered. In general it was a good experience and I would come again. Priced a bit over the other Italian restaurants in the area and do not have an alcohol license for hard liquors.

Our family enjoyed dining at II Tegamino . It’s a quaint restaurant that invites you into a more personable experience. You are greeted and waited on by the owner and friendly staff eagerly awaiting to accommodate your dining experience . The food was fresh and absolutely delicious ! Lasagna is a must have , as well as the fried zucchini to dip your fresh bread in . We will definitely be back when we come back to Carmel to visit .

After coming here for a few times, this charming Italian restaurant has become a must for us while in Carmel. The food is beyond exceptional. My fav is the Ragu, Jessepe mother’s recipe, which seem to be part of the menu for the last 10 years. You may experience here something infrequent at other places, the friendliness, and charisma the owner makes you feel at home .

We arrived an hour and a half earlier than our reservation. We didn't get the original table inside as we had planned, but was given a table outside, and it seemed a little more romantic of a setting. Service was great from beginning to end, and the Canneloni plate was phenomenal, the dessert was fantastic, the Lemon Sponge Cake. I will definitely come to this restaurant again when in the area.
