We love going to Holly Hill Inn. Last night was no exception. The food was wonderful. We each had a different style of steak. Both were delicious and cooked to perfection with fabulous sauces. I think I had the most beautiful and scrumptious salad I have ever enjoyed. The food is always good there, but what stands out even more is the delightful staff. They are always so welcoming, and they hit the perfect note of attentiveness. We had a perfect evening.

My wife and I visited Holly Hill Inn after the first round of the NCAA tournament. The drive from Lexington took about 30 minutes from the Kenwick neighborhood of Lexington. We were able to enjoy seeing the beautiful horse farm countryside on our way to the restaurant. Holly Hill Inn resides in a beautiful Georgian style large house that was built in the early 1900's. I was a wonderful location for a dinner. There were only a dozen or so people there when we arrived so we did not have to wait to be seated even though we arrived 15 minutes before our reservation. Our waitress was very punctual and helpful with advising us on the menu. We both had Irish chowder for a starter which was delicious. We shared 24 oz cowgirl ribeye for our entree, which was a strategic mistake on my part because my wife likes her steaks to be cooked to medium. The steak was cooked between rare and medium rare. It was enough for both of us even though my wife only ate a couple of bites. There was a significant amount of fat on the steak so I would estimate that there was only around 12-14 oz of edible meat. Sides of Irish mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts, along with bread was enouth to satisfy the both of us. I rated the food a 4 only because my wife did not eat the steak, which could have been corrected had we sent it back to the kitchen for further cooking. However, my wife was already happy with the aforementioned sides and chowder and chose not to do so. The price of the meal was on the high side but that is to be expected when you visit a restaurant owned and operated by a James Beard nominated chef. Overall our visit was very pleasant. I would recommend the Holly Hill Inn to anyone looking to enjoy a good meal near Lexington, Kentucky.

We enjoyed a lovely dinner celebrating my 60th birthday. Everything was delicious from the fish chowder to the steak and bread.. and of course the desserts and coffee!! I have nothing negative to say!! We hope to return again soon when the weather is warmer and the garden is in bloom!!

Every single detail of each individual element of our meal was so obviously considered, curated, attended to, and just perfect.... as were the service and the ambiance. The restaurant feels special, romantic, and classy but without being stiff and uninviting. From start to finish, the meal was easily the best I've ever had, and the service was impeccable. It's obvious why Holly Hill Inn is so highly regarded... this place is a can't miss.

Very disappointed in the quality of our steaks. So tough and small. Almost like a piece of meat you would get at like a sizzler restaurant. I had to saw and saw on it with my knife. The Welsh rarebit Mac and cheese was overdone and tough-I couldn’t even taste the cheese. If you are thinking about dining here wait till after March when the menu will change as it is “steak month” apparently at Holly Hill.

Lovely venue & atmosphere but it was very slow & the food was cold. Good flavor, but needed to be hotter.
