Higher Ground is a bistro and bar located in Manchester city centre that focuses on seasonality within the UK using produce sourced from local suppliers and producers.

The restaurant is open Wed-Sat at dinner and Thurs-Sat lunch. From 14th November ’24, Higher Ground is opening on Thursday lunchtimes and is now open from 5pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays!

At lunch a £40pp seasonal sharing menu is offered alongside an à la carte menu. At dinner, both an à la carte and a seasonal sharing menu at £58pp are available. Both menus are available when sat at the kitchen bar counter.

We often hold space for walk-ins at the kitchen bar counter so pop by and have some plates and a glass of wine!

Reservations of up to twelve guests are accepted. For parties of 6x guests and over, the seasonal sharing menu is served.

Every plate of food has been crafted with the utmost skill and attention to detail. Flavours are imaginative and surprising, the humble onion is elevated to a delicacy by the addition of goats curd and Joe’s magic touch. We happily eat whatever is placed in front of us! Each visit has been a special experience for us and it’s a thrill to introduce friends to this treat. Spectacular food and wine from the loveliest team. It started with a warm welcome, moved onto fantastic oysters and an inspired set menu that they amended for us as we wanted fish as the main. Everything was beautifully cooked and had fantastic flavours.

Tasting menu was a selection of what was on the a la carte menu. very small portions but what you would expect from a tasting menu- very good ambiance and full First time visit and clearly a popular place. Good menu for lunch time which is when we ate

This was our third time in Higher Ground, only this time we sat at the kitchen counter but enjoyed it all through. The food, the wine list and the service; everything was perfect as always. Thank you HG team

Another amazing meal produced by Daniel and all the staff From being greeted at the door to paying the bill the whole experience is amazing. Everyone works so hard to make sure your experience is the best and the food and its presentation is out of this world with every meal being explained as it arrives from the kitchen. My advice would be to sit at the bar and watch the hard working staff prepare everything to perfection. We went with the set menu and when we were intrigued as to what was in the ingredients Chef took time to not only tell us but also show us the produce which is grown by them in Cheshire. Yes it can get expensive but what price do you pay for locally sourced produce served at this level and with so much dedication

The food/service here is outstanding and we have been a few times and will go again but, it’s very very expensive. I understand it’s quality produce but dishes are very small and compared to other and similar quality restaurants, it just feels a little too expensive for certain dishes. For us it’s very much a treat place to go just a couple of times a year. It wouldn’t be a regular eatery when we travel into Manchester just due to price.
