The Area's Authentic Seafood Restaurant The experience that you will have at Hieronymus Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar is uniquely Wilmington, North Carolina. Our specialty is Cape Fear cuisine, including fresh local seafood, fresh vegetables, and local craft beer. When you walk through our doors, take a look around. You will see many items that are a part of our history. The shells inside the tables have been brought to us by many guests throughout the years. Nameplates on the bar designate locals that have told many a tale. News releases show Hieronymus cooking for Bryant Gumbel on the Today Show. We had such an incredible time! Savannah was our lovely waitress and she truly went above and beyond. The dining room tables were just delightful, adorned with charming shells and ocean-themed decorations. The food was absolutely fantastic and so fresh. We couldn't get enough of the scallops, clam strips, oysters, and crab legs. Honestly, you can't make a wrong choice here.

We had a fabulous time. The food was delicious and the portions were GENEROUS. We were celebrating our daughter’s senior volleyball weekend; we were not rushed but allowed to enjoy each others company past closing time. Many thanks!!

This was the best seafood dinner I’ve had in the Wilmington area. I was able to have my dinner customized as I have special dietary needs. My fiancé played the piano that’s set up in the dinning area. It was great!!

The food was great! We were able to talk as the music was not top loud. Our waitress was attentive but not overly so. A very good experience.

The decor creates a nice atmosphere of an old-timey authentic seafood restaurant where the food is fresh and home-cooked. Our server was attentive although our water glasses were never refilled, and we were not informed of specials. The food was good but not great; there are other seafood restaurants we'd prefer to this one. The blackened scallops were so salty that my lips were parched afterwards and I was extremely thirsty for a couple of hours after eating them. My partner had the fried captain's platter. The portions were generous but he said that overall the dish was rather bland. We enjoyed the coleslaw which did not have too much mayonnaise and had a nice vinegar flavor. The crab dip was delicious, served with toasted bread.
