Hayden Block Smoke & Whiskey is a bbq joint in the heart of Kensington, Calgary, Alberta. Smoking our meat from 10-14 hours, people love our brisket but we have a selection of meats, trays and sides to choose from. Join us inside or out if the weather permits, or on our backyard whiskey garden open year round. Drinkwise we’ve got the largest whiskey list in town, and an ever-evolving cocktail list anchored by our smokey old-fashioned. We’ve also got a bunch of beer on tap, with some local favourites and international selects.

The service was great, friendly and helpful. The food was good, not great. The bark and overall flavour of the brisket was fantastic, however it was very dry. The house BBQ sauces were tasty, if you like a vinegar based sauce, you'll love these! The sides are large enough that you could share with another person if you both have smaller appetites. The smokestack corn is tasty, and so is the macaroni salad. Overall I'd give them another try, the other items on the menu sound tasty, and it's possible it was just an off night with the brisket being so dry.

Great place to go as a group. Service and Whiskey selection are good. Little disappointed on the food. The meat was really dry.

We enjoyed our dinner at Hayden Block. The food was great overall. We enjoyed the brisket most of all. Very tender. We also had the pork ribs which were ok, and the pulled pork which was also pretty good. All the side dishes we tried were very good as well. Overall a great experience. We’ll be visiting again.

We had family come to town and we thought Hayden Block would be a great place to take them as they love barbecue. The ambiance in the back with the fireplace is fantastic. It was great that my 16 year old nephew was able to enjoy the spot as they allow minors until 8:00 pm. The service was fantastic and the food delicious. The brisket was very tender. All of the sides were excellent. If you are a whiskey drinker they have an incredible selection which is half off during happy hour 3:00 - 6:00 pm Monday - Friday.
