Located in the heart of Gramercy in the restored Assembly Hall of the landmarked United Charities Building, Hawksmoor is a steak restaurant that celebrates all-natural, pasture-reared, and traditionally dry-aged beef. Our beef is seasoned simply with sea salt and cooked over live-fire charcoal. Our seafood is locally and sustainably sourced from northeastern waters and we use small-farm produce whenever possible. On Sunday afternoons Hawksmoor keeps with the tried-and-true British tradition and features a Sunday Roast.

Completing our offerings are award-winning cocktails, including New York City's coldest martini, and a carefully curated wine selection. The restaurant houses 150 in the dining room and 35 in the bar area. There are also two private dining rooms that can hold 12 people and serve exclusive, family-style menus.

Sunday Roast

Sundays at Hawksmoor are all about our Sunday Roast: all-natural, dry-aged, slow-roasted Rump served with crispy beef dripping potatoes, Caraflax cabbage and carrots, gigantic Yorkshire puddings, lashings of bone marrow & onion gravy and the option for a side of cauliflower cheese or slow-roasted bone marrow and onions. Sunday Roast dates back to the 15th century where large joints of meat were roasted on a spit over an open fire; to achieve a similar flavor, we start ours on our charcoal grill and finish them in the oven. Many who've had a Sunday Roast equate it to a Thanksgiving dinner – a comforting, filling meal that is best in the company of loved ones. And, should a Bloody Mary, or two, be consumed alongside it, who are we to judge?

La comida estuvo muy bien, pero la cantidad de ruido no nos permitió conversar. El servicio muy correcto aunque un poco lento.

Muchas gracias por sus comentarios. Dado que el edificio es oficialmente registrado como protegido, la sala de asamblea habita efectivamente presenta desafíos acústicos estructurales. Nuestro equipo hace lo posible para mitigar el sonido en el restaurante con niveles de música bajos. Es claro que no cumplimos de manera debida el día de su visita. Si decidiera visitarnos de vuelta, podemos hacer una reservación para usted en una mesa menos expuesta y más tranquila. Esperamos que vuelva pronto!

Thanks for sharing your feedback with us. While we appreciate we might be more expensive than other restaurants, we believe we offer good value for money based on the quality of our product, food, and service. Being in a landmarked building, the Assembly Hall does present some acoustic issues that we can't change structurally. If you choose to dine with us again you can request to sit at a quieter table which might make it more comfortable. We do hope to welcome you again!

Great great great service! Nice space but super loud. Food was good and the menu is versatile. Cocktails were outstanding.

The server was great, and the food was better. I would go back just for the sour negori. The sommeliers made the night. They were out of my first choice, and I am so happy they were. The replacement was far better than anything I would have picked.

Such an amazing dining experience. We have been here 3 times and each time is just as consistently wonderful as the last! Five star service, the perfect length and spacing of a fantastic meal!

I had a thoroughly disappointing experience at this steakhouse, and I can't recommend it to anyone. From the moment I walked in, it felt like a letdown, and unfortunately, the food, service and leaky restrooms only confirmed my growing disappointment. The main issue was the steak—I ordered a ribeye, but what arrived was clearly a strip steak, missing the rib cap that defines a true ribeye. I brought this up with the server, and he rebuffed it as a “confusion”, a response that is unhelpful and borderline condescending. When I escalated the issue to the manager, it was even worse—both the server and manager seemed oblivious to the fact that they had served me the wrong cut of meat. Why am I paying for a ribeye when it’s CLEARLY missing the rib cap!! Their dismissive attitude made the situation even more frustrating. To add insult to injury, the service was inconsistent. Toward the end of the meal, they switched waiters, which felt like an admission that they had underdelivered. This was supposed to be a special birthday dinner, but it ended on a sour note. In fact, this was the first time I've ever sent a steak back, which speaks volumes about how bad the experience was. If you're in New York looking for a great steakhouse, look elsewhere. There are plenty of other options that are well worth your time and money. This place simply doesn't live up to its billing, and I regret wasting my evening here.
