Located in the heart of Gramercy in the restored Assembly Hall of the landmarked United Charities Building, Hawksmoor is a steak restaurant that celebrates all-natural, pasture-reared, and traditionally dry-aged beef. Our beef is seasoned simply with sea salt and cooked over live-fire charcoal. Our seafood is locally and sustainably sourced from northeastern waters and we use small-farm produce whenever possible. On Sunday afternoons Hawksmoor keeps with the tried-and-true British tradition and features a Sunday Roast.

Completing our offerings are award-winning cocktails, including New York City's coldest martini, and a carefully curated wine selection. The restaurant houses 150 in the dining room and 35 in the bar area. There are also two private dining rooms that can hold 12 people and serve exclusive, family-style menus.

Sunday Roast

Sundays at Hawksmoor are all about our Sunday Roast: all-natural, dry-aged, slow-roasted Rump served with crispy beef dripping potatoes, Caraflax cabbage and carrots, gigantic Yorkshire puddings, lashings of bone marrow & onion gravy and the option for a side of cauliflower cheese or slow-roasted bone marrow and onions. Sunday Roast dates back to the 15th century where large joints of meat were roasted on a spit over an open fire; to achieve a similar flavor, we start ours on our charcoal grill and finish them in the oven. Many who've had a Sunday Roast equate it to a Thanksgiving dinner – a comforting, filling meal that is best in the company of loved ones. And, should a Bloody Mary, or two, be consumed alongside it, who are we to judge?

La comida estuvo muy bien, pero la cantidad de ruido no nos permitió conversar. El servicio muy correcto aunque un poco lento.

Muchas gracias por sus comentarios. Dado que el edificio es oficialmente registrado como protegido, la sala de asamblea habita efectivamente presenta desafíos acústicos estructurales. Nuestro equipo hace lo posible para mitigar el sonido en el restaurante con niveles de música bajos. Es claro que no cumplimos de manera debida el día de su visita. Si decidiera visitarnos de vuelta, podemos hacer una reservación para usted en una mesa menos expuesta y más tranquila. Esperamos que vuelva pronto!

Thanks for sharing your feedback with us. While we appreciate we might be more expensive than other restaurants, we believe we offer good value for money based on the quality of our product, food, and service. Being in a landmarked building, the Assembly Hall does present some acoustic issues that we can't change structurally. If you choose to dine with us again you can request to sit at a quieter table which might make it more comfortable. We do hope to welcome you again!

If I am going to be honest I am from Philly and have been around lovely steakhouses. Being told Hawksmoor was voted 2 best steakhouse I had high expectations comparing to my favorite steakhouse Butcher and Singer. I was extremely disappointed. The food was not impressive nor service. Ordered bone marrow with my steak, did not come out until end of my dinner. Mac and cheese that I ordered came out COLD… Again, received at the end of my dinner. Considering there were consistent two mistakes, I would anticipate some adjustment to the extravagant bill, which I am not one to ever complain but feel compelled to. My overall experience was mediocre and not a place I will return… Please take it from me as someone who has very high expectations and who comes from extensive fine dining restaurant experience, do not waste your time or money.

Our servers were fantastic. The wait for food was a bit ridiculous. For lunch we were there for two hours. They did acknowledge this and take an appetizer off, which was acceptable and great of them. Food was very good. Will return.

Great experience once again. Was seated right away though my guest was 5 min late. Thanks...it's important to me not to have to wait in the corridor for a "full party." Had the steak frites lunch which was excellent. We shared the lobster mac and cheese...delicious...cocktails were amazing as usual. Service was A+ Love that room! I will be back. I had a great time with my date. Thank you!!!!!
