Truly authentic and quality Yakitori and Izakaya small plates plus my fav beer, Asahi Super Dry on tap!! The perfectly sized skewers are expertly prepped and grilled…….Hamachi Kama, yellowtail cheek, is another delightful Hasu special that pairs well with sake. You can’t go wrong with Hasu, it’s even better than what I’ve experienced in Japan!’

Ambience is lacking for an izakaya and prices are a bit higher than our go-tos in OC. Food was good, but better can be had not far away for less.

I have dined, got smashed drunk and literally crawled out of many a smoky yakitori alley joint in the bowels of Tokyo and Osaka but I must say that HASU serves up the best, most authentic, grilled yard bird this side of the Pacific!! Yeah, it ain’t cheap but you get what you pay for here and I find it amazing and a blessing that such a truly legit place exists in a Southbay strip mall, conveniently located close to the 405 and 91. Plus they gots my fav Japanese brew, Asahi Super Dry, on tap and also Hamachi Kama for a nice change of pace. Service is so friendly and nostalgic of Japan…….what more can I say!!!

I’ve eaten many a yardbird joint in the bowels of Tokyo but honestly must say that I rate Hasu Numero Uno!! The meat quality, the flavor, skill and precision cuts of each skewer are truly noticeable……..hats off to their Master Chef for the outstanding prep and display of professionalism……plus they got ice cold Asahi Super Dry Draft which pairs extremely well with the sticks served hot off the grill by attentive Hasu staff!!

Absolutely the best yakitori in LA!! Even better than what I’ve had in Japan. It ain’t cheap but the yardbird at Hasu is divine, so expertly prepared, grilled and presented. And the side dishes are remarkable too, like the Hamachi Kama (Grilled Yellowtail Collar) which really hit the spot like a Shohei bomb!!! Plenty of strip mall parking, close to 405……what more can you ask for when Hasu can satisfy your urge for some fantastic chicken on a stick!!

TORRANCEのHACHIは日本人客が多くCOSTA MESAはアジア系が多い。その違いがあるからか、COSTA MESAはサービスの質がTORRANCEに劣るのではないか。

This is one of our most favorite spots to go to for Yakitori! They have other items that are great also! The ladies seem to recognize us since we frequent this place often! The Yakitori items we have tried were: Chicken Thigh, Chicken Breast, Chicken Meatballs, Chicken Oyster, Scallops, Pork Belly, Asparagus & Pork Belly, Zucchini, Shishito, Prime Beef, Gingko Nuts, and Shrimp, plus more I can't think of. There is a Tomato & Mozzarella Cheese Skewer that is refreshing! I would get most of these skewers again and try some others! You could see the char & taste the smokiness from the grill! It's best to make a reservation for this restaurant because they are often booked up! It's a nice place for a fairly quiet meal. Food is brought out as it is ready. There doesn't seem to be a particular order from what we've experienced. I think only one time they missed an item and prepared it after we asked about it. Other than that, they've got a good system that works for them!

Hasu is truly excellent. The flavor is what you crave and seek out. Just returned from Tokyo. Was having a hard time just stopping eating great Japanese food cold turkey. Needed really good yakitori and the chef delivered. Excellent service from the waitress. Clean dining and good music playing. Can get loud but it was unusually empty. Made us feel like we reserved the whole place for privacy. I’ve been there when it’s a packed out. Just as fun. Make a reservation so you don’t have to wait.
